Indeed, in April 2009, Eisenberg wrote an e-mail to his construction chief noting that, "Our new buildings are fundamentally flawed.... We cannot control lighting systems, HVAC systems, security systems, building management systems, etc."

... you get two hits. One is on the article from Campus Technology. The other is from something called green-energy-central.com. According to Google, that character string appeared at that site on 16 March 2011 at 0701 GMT, which would have been 12:01 AM, one minute after midnight, 16 March. The interesting thing is that the story has been scrubbed from the the green-energy-central website, and even Google's cached image of the page has been scrubbed, although Google includes this helpful note at the top of the cached version:

Eisenberg estimated that it would cost $975 million to take all nine campuses off the grid. An engineering consultant believed the final bill would be much higher — $1.9 billion. As a point of reference, LACCD spent less than $8 million on power bills in 2010.
Do you have a reference for that? Sounds extremely low to me.

Guaranteed, the contractors were hired based strictly on their minority ownership.
In other words, once again reality has jumped up and bitch-slapped the liberals, just like they deserve.
And once again, the taxpayers get the bill.

I know it is nitpicking, but you can't sell surplus power to the power company when your system has "severed ties to the grid".
I think this demonstrates in a basic way the lack of understanding these green advocates at all levels of institutions have with regard to energy issues.
