Washington's local NBC affiliate reports:
D.C. police confirmed that a substance ingested by students at a northwest D.C. elementary school was cocaine, according to D.C. Public Schools.

Here's The Post's Jay Matthews in November 2008, urging the first couple to consider sending the kids to public school:
Why not see what their tax dollars are paying for? One educational gem happens to be the closest public school to their new home.

Sixty-nine percent of Thomson's 355 students are from low-income families. Forty percent are Hispanic, 34 percent black, 22 percent Asian American and 5 percent white. That demographic mix often means remedial instruction and little enrichment, but parents say the school offers a feast of music, art and foreign languages as good as what they would find in a private school. ...

Such blatent racism ought to be shocking, but it's just what we've all come to expect from libs and their mouth pieces like the WaPo.
A beautiful piece of bigotry, Jay Matthews. You don't fail to disappoint.
Yeah, I mean that’s a bit like Sarah Palin telling Obama he needs to bomb Libya - taking advantage of an opening to attack them, although it’s Not good policy.

Wasn’t albore’s son expelled for ‘selling’?
From what I have personally seen, the more money available the more drugs are purchased by students, private school kids too.
Which is great stuff for school if you can live the lounging lifestyle of the idle rich.
Wouldn't it be better to have a rich feast of math, science, and technical skills?
Times sure have changed. ;>)
Exposing elementary school kids to any form of stimulant drug seems to be like pouring gasoline on a fire.
Oh, I couldn't disagree more. The rich in this country generally work VERY hard. Our idle class is composed of the welfare queens and dukes of entitlements.
They'll have plenty of time to enjoy sophisticated entertainments and foreign languages be they lounging in tax-payer supported public housing or relaxing in a prison cell.
