We do have vast untapped energy resources, but even at best, it will takes decades to fully develop them. Our country’s debt crisis will be upon us before they come on line.

The time to start is now. I have been hearing that same excuse from the ‘Rats for years. If we had started back in the 1990s, it would be developed now, no? It will never get developed if we do not start. I believe that nobody knows how long it will take new sources to come on line because we haven’t really tried to bring any new resources online in decades and because the gubmint is in the way. Most of the time involved is regulatory stuff our gubmint does to the people wanting to develop resources. Get rid of that and I bet it does not take decades.

Certainly there is truth to that. But it was just as true a decade back when GWB was trying to clear away the arbitrary restrictions on drilling for fuel.
Our country’s debt crisis will be upon us before they come on line.
Our country's creditworthiness will improve the instant we prove we're serious about developing those resources.
