ABU DHABI — The U.S. Navy has begun to vacate its facilities in Bahrain, diplomatic sources said. However a statement by the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command denied that an evacuation was underway.
Western diplomatic sources said many or most of the navy's Fifth Fleet has left Manama. They said many of the U.S. naval personnel were transferred to Oman, where a naval exercise was taking place.

In case you don’t know, Manama is the foundation of our Navy in the Middle East. Without that base we are in a heap of trouble.
Man, I know GW was not a “pefect” President, but things really seem to be falling apart under Obama. Everyday it’s another crisis. The economy, foreign affairs, political turmoil with the Unions.

There was a time when the US Navy housed the deployed Fleet staffs on mobile flag ships for just such contingencies. But short-sighted planning has left the Navy with almost no viable full-time flagships any more. I served on one of the last ones. Ain’t it funny how those “peace dividends” come back to bite us when the peace falls to pieces?
lol. As if the Navy just has their little boats tied up with nothing for security ashore but a little wooden gangplank between them and the dock.
I suppose our next step is to trade our troops in Kuwait and Iraq for some tractors and a few billion dollars in ransom? (...hint: google "Bay Of Pigs"...) Those dollars aren't going to be worth much of anything in a few weeks, anyway.

I sure hope this "source" is 100% full of SHIiTe; but given who our commander in chief is, I don't have too much trouble believing that 'we' might be about to trust the Iranians.
