I think (in general) women on the left/far left do share a “look”. No make up is part of it. Greasy hair, sometimes. The wardrobe is kind of odd—old lady hippy is a good description. The shoes are always a give away...uber functional/eco friendly walking shoes.

The young women that think they are just “liberal” usually like to look nice. The farther on the left scale, the more dusty these women look.

I think it's a “screw you” to the traditional female role.

A day at Whole Foods is fun to people watch. The women fit into mostly 2 groups: Young, affluent “liberal” women who look very stylish and attractive, displaying their “green” baby and $1,200 stroller and their more leftist sisters who look hagged out, pissed off and ready to beat a man's head in with a broccoli spear if he dare hold the door for her.

You should have seen Senator Kennedy’s female staff. They all, regardless of age, belonged to the frumpy, hagged-out, I-don’t-own-an-iron-or-a-hairdryer category.
