If there is a radioactivity release bad enough to affect you on the West Coast, you will know about it days in advance and have time to take actionGo to the library and check out On The Beach by Nevil Shute

On the Beach was about a full-on nuclear war between the U.S. and the USSR, all "throw weight" used.
It has absolutely no bearing on what is happening in Japan right now.

Go to the library and check out On The Beach by Nevil Shute It is hard to imagine a sillier comparison.
As has been pointed out elsewhere, this plant could go into full blown meltdown and we'll still be just fine, and so will the folks in Japan. But even if it was possible for the thing to be Chernobyl II, comparing it to a novel involving a full release nuclear war is a silly thing to do, like comparing a firecracker to an H-bomb.

Does that mean Australia will be the last place to succumb?
