You know, I’m with you. Eat what you want, but have some logical thinking at least.

I had a discussion with a (very) liberal person I know. We were discussing the Texas budget ‘crisis’, and the fact that the education budget is going to be cut, as is all the other budgets. She went on to describe that teachers are going to get fired, etc, but the Texas constitution requires ‘adequate funding for education’. I felt that over 40% of the budget going to education was adequate, if it was spent correctly. She then asked if we cut 20% from the education budget, where did I propose we spend that 20%. Seriously. My response was “We don’t. If the ‘pie’ is reduced 30% overall, you cut each section a little. You don’t cut from one section and give it to another, that’s just more deficient spending.” She didn’t seem to understand - you cannot spend more than you have. It’s not responsible, and it’s not right. She really thought I was advocating cutting education and spending that money somewhere else in the budget.

Simply amazing. I’m not even college educated, and she is, but this was a stark reminder (for me) of the liberal mentality.

So if I spend 20% less on restaurants, and take that money and spend it on booze, I can save money!

Is it any surprise people go bankrupt?
