They also treat kids with orthopedic problems. I’m not sure what else is covered.

Healthcare will always be about money as there is rationing in all medical financing systems.

It is true that there are not enough resources for everyone to get everything they want. There's a big difference, however, between rationing (where some bureaucrat decides) and a family deciding how much care to receive based on their family circumstances.

Shriner’s hospitals are mostly for crippled children. The Shriners Burn Center is another hospital which is naturally sponsored by the Shriners.

There's a big difference, however, between rationing (where some bureaucrat decides) and a family deciding how much care to receive based on their family circumstances.

Thanks to out of control costs driving up my premiums I've been completely priced out of health care this year.

For years I've paid out of pocket for my own coverage: no collective bargaining, no union negotiated benefit, no employer paying for me.

As it happened, I haven't needed a doctor in 5 years. As a result, all those premiums subsidized others to the tune of tens of thousands out of pocket which, now that I'm about to drown in Obama's jobless recovery (I've never taken benefits), could've been used to keep a roof over my head and food on the table.

What did I get? NOTHING. Instead I was bled dry by the taking class and now when I may need basic care or medication I won't have it as an option.

Those sociopathic leaches sucked so much out of the health care cow that others will now go without even routine checkups. THAT is real evil.

If some bureaucrat can get in their way, prevent them from harming others with irresponsibility, waste, fraud or a childish unwillingness to face life-and-death, I welcome the gatekeeper!

I don't know the situation of Baby Joseph even after a couple articles other than the parents apparently want to take him home to die. My impression is costs of further care in the US will be borne by charities which is fine.

However, since his sister died of congenital problems, it seems like they should stop having their own children. Maybe they should've considered that before conceiving Joseph and instead taken in any of the thousands of children already born and badly in need of a loving family. Maybe the loss of that first child was a message they refused to hear over their own self-obsession with biological offspring.

I hope Baby Joseph's end is a peaceful one.

Finally - Baby Joseph is saved from deathrow in the prison aka hospital in Canada and taken to the US. No taxpayer money involved.

They also do some other things...hubby’s childhood ear surgeries were done by the Shriners. He’d be stone deaf if not for them.
