Well, thought about how to store sugar and it strikes me old coffee cans would be a good, low cost, option for securing a large quantity of sugar.
My only worry about sugar is ants getting at it, otherwise you can do quite a lot with it, even curing and storing meat by coating it with sugar.
I got a real deal on the 1/4 beef my FIL gave it to us for free. LOL
Isn’t the federal government trying to assert that you have no right to raise farm animals or grow crops without their permission?
Thanks!! :-D
I am not aware of any seed issues in that particular act, but as another poster pointed out, the bill has not been posted online yet for us to even know what is in the final bill.
Regarding this: “’..producers who sell locally [~400 mile radius], less than $500,000 a year.’”
It is my understanding that it only applies to the growing of food, and if it is processed at all, it is no longer exempted, which I believe is more than likely given the corrupt nature of the bill.
As far as the heirloom seeds go, there are less and less of them as some companies have quit suppling certains strains because they’ve become contaminated anyway. Besides, Monsanto is patenting all seeds they can find anyway by going into community seed banks and patenting seeds they did nothing to obtain except walk in and take them. I doubt there are any provisions in the bill for heirloom seeds, but I could be wrong. Monsanto is already suing anyone and everyone they can who tries to clean seeds which they hold a patent too, even if the farmer’s crops are contaminated through no fault of their own. Despicable, but since I’ve heard that much of the SB 510 (whatever name it finally goes by), was written by Monsanto (Many government officials have worked, do work, and bounce back and forth in Monsanto and Government jobs anyway), I it’ll favor them anyway, so no need. Big ag is coming, and with a venegence, and will be hailed by the general public as our saviour from hunger in this poverty stricken and inflating times. No thanks, I say.
Your homepage is GREAT!!!
Glad you liked the pic!! Bike Week in Daytona is (to quote Joe Biden) A BIG F’N DEAL!! This was the 52nd year of the event.
IMHO, if you could make the caption say:
“The 2011 Daytona Beach Bike Week bikers found me!!”
That would tie in the Welcome Bikers part.
You DO realize from now on I’ll probably Ping you with the pic if necessary.
I’m so glad you liked it!!
Stay safe!
The 2011 Daytona Beach Bike Week bikers found me!!
I could.
And I did. :)
I worked with and was good friends with a Navy Chief over here from '07 to '08. He redeployed in February of '08 and was excited about meeting up with his friends in PA when he got back so that they could ride down to Daytona for Bike Week. He sent pictures and it looked like they were all having a great time.
Good one. What does it cost?
I store sugar in those huge decorative popcorn cans that are so popular during Christmas time. They will hold 25 lbs. each. My late FIL (1906) was a popcorn fan and always received several cans for Christmas. When we bought the family out of the old homestead, I found an entire closet of the cans and wanted to utilize them somehow. I also use them for rice. You can line them with a large kitchen size (13 gal.) trash bag and it gives you plenty to twist tie them shut, and that may help longer-term needs, but I usually don’t bother.
Actually closer to $180 per loaf if the dollar crashes as Obama/Soros want it to
Didn’t know that heirlooms were becoming tainted, thanks.
Your home page pics are AMAZING!!
What do they call the "crossed swords thingee"?? (I fergit).
Your pic reminded me of this one (one of my favorites BTW)
Americans do not have a right to cheap gasoline. Nobody has ever held a gin to my head telling me to buy an F-150.
Sure, but who buys a whole supermarket?
Thanks FARS.
Nice, this is one of the things I love about FR, such things can be discussed seriously, not everything is political all of the time.
And instead of screaming about needing more .Gov help, we can all have a chat on how to save money on one of the 3 things everyone needs.
The “other” Washington :-(
Welcome to my world. I work at a convenience store. I see people come in and buy JUNK on their EBT Cards everyday. They use their cash for the “important” stuff like lottery tickets, cigerettes and beer.
It is infuriating to watch the waste of money that WE pay for.
