I liked that Travolta movie Battlefield Earth - dont ask me why...it could have been better, but, could have been worse too...I watched it after reading scads of bad reviews and exclamations of how horrendous it was and you know what? I found it to be a fair-to-middling B grade movie with a plot that moved along enough to follow it through to the end.
Compared to a hundred (or a thousand) other movies that (because of political correctness or hollywood correctness or both) get rave reviews that are completely unearned, I found "Battlefield Earth" at least watchable.
How many downright pieces of garbage do the liberal reviewers fawn all over (and I'm not talking JUST about "Brokeback Mountain") with lousy acting, lousy story, lousy directing, lousy everything, and yet they get rave reviews because not a single one of the liberal reviewers dare point out the lack of clothes?
To me "Battlefield Earth" showed the absolute shallowness of the entire movie-review industry. Again, not because I thought "Battlefield Earth" was great or even good, but because it was better than a hundred or a thousand other films that rated high and because it was no where near as bad as "they" made it out to be.
Sorry for the rant. I'm certainly no fan of any L Ron (either Hubbard or Paul) and I can take or leave Travolta depending on the role.
But what I really hate are the pretentious know-it-alls who run and review Hollywood.
“How many downright pieces of garbage do...reviewers fawn all over with lousy acting, lousy story, lousy directing, lousy everything”
Which films are you talking about?
Pretty much wraps up my feelings on the movie - it wasn’t great but it wasn’t awful either - I couldn’t care any less about L Ron Hubbard...I’ve seen worse movies - lots worse.
It was on Starz or somewhere this past week and I watched it again (no commercials-nothing else on...)Of course it has flaws but it was semi useless entertaining.
Don’t get me started on Ishtar - lol
