"There is no comparison whatever between an armed and disarmed man; it is not reasonable to suppose that one who is armed will obey willingly one who is unarmed; or that any unarmed man will remain safe...." - Niccoló Machiavelli, The Prince. 1537.
we people from NY...the whole rest of the state minus the cities...are as big a bunch of gun fanatics as you will find anywhere in the country...
unfortunate for us...we are outnumbered by the elitist scum in the cities...
and you can look to places like California too...and other left coast states for uber-restricive gun laws...don’t paint the east with all the problems...also, we in NY have much easier gun laws that Illinois...
One takes the point, but I’m not sure I particularly care for the sort of polarization this author is attempting. The fact is, there are a h3ll of a lot of enthusiastic shooters in the Northeast and a h3ll of a lot of elitist snobs in so-called red states.
The apposition works for the sake of the rhetoric, but isn’t rhetoric for its own sake more a tool of the very literary snobs this guy is taking to task?
"Guns hurt! Guns kill! Guns bad! Ban guns!
I propose a general policy (voluntary) for all future FR posts: “elite” along with with “progressive” should (IMHO) always be displayed in “quotes”... as they are “elite” only in their self-delusion and “progressive” only in terms of the tortuous advance of a deadly disease... such as ALS, that slowly cripples and kills! (Lou Gehrig’s disease).
in Massachusetts since 1648,
New Hampshire since 1750,
Vermont, NY since 1797.
We`re armed Sentinels here, always on the watch for domestic enemies who wish to disarm us and our grandfathers.
The way it used to be in NY...
