Angry FReeper (Vanity post)
wac3rd@freerepublic ^ | March 11, 2011 | wac3rd

Posted on 03/12/2011 10:28:29 PM PST by wac3rd

Context: A standard Safeway in an upper-middle class East Bay suburb of San Francisco, 8:30 PM PST.

I just got home from the grocery store where I went to get a few items for my wife (vegetables, chicken) etc. and was getting my retired Dad a gift card so he can make ends meet. He is not doing well and living on Social Security and a part-time job, and I know he needs the money for food (and dog food).

I was going through the self-check out but there was a sign "no gift cards" so I went back into the regular line.

There were two women, both about 5' tall and only spoke Spanish, they had 5 children, all under 5 years old and they were chatting and screaming, normal kid stuff.

They had a full basket, and when they were done, pulled out WIC (Food Stamp) cards and charged over $200 on it. The card didn't take the first time, they had to remove items, etc. but finally, the Latino family left the grocery store.

I only had a few items, including my father's gift card, so I came out right as one of them drove up in a late model Ford Expedition with the shiny flashy rims. There were 5 car seats and some kind of Spanish music coming out of the speakers.

I bust my ass to feed my family, pay taxes and keep my family above water...who the hell takes my tax dollars to give to these illegal invaders and their spawn?

I was so angry thinking of my Dad back East clipping coupons while these 3rd Worlders steal every week from the US taxpayer.

I am angry, really angry. I have had enough.

LOL. I had my "revelatory moment" on this score back in the 1970's. My wife and I were both in grad school, and living on our combined TA salaries. The nearest supermarket also happened to be the closest one in proximity to a large "ghetto" area.

One day we were shopping, and this grossly obese woman pulls up to the checkout line ahead of us, with not one, but TWO grocery carts filled to the brim with steaks, frozen desserts, and pretty much every other food item you can imagine, and stuff that my wife and I simply could not afford. She paid for it all with food stamps.

I’m afraid that J. Vernon McGee summed it all up much too succinctly: “Man is not capable of governing”.

At least he hasn’t yet.

“I am counting on Sarah to do this when she is elected in 2012. I am expecting a lot from her. She is the one to do this so my hope is that she gets in there and changes a lot of what is wrong with America.”

Let’s see. I hope SOMEONE comes forward and calls this invasion and infestation for what it is.

“The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.”

— Alexis de Tocqueville (Democracy in America)

That's it. We have arrived to where the present economic situation is unsustainable. Most likely, these women are not married to the father of their children, and therefore can claim "single mother" status which opens the door for all kinds of benefits. The fathers are there, working and perhaps the mothers too. All cash businesses where they don't pay taxes at all, 8A set aside firms and regular small firms (such as cleaning companies). These people are not stupid and have educated themselves on how to game the system. Right now, 14% of all Americans are on some sort of food assistance from the government.

Another big difference: Charity in the past was paid for by contributions by individuals, not by money confiscated by the government.

Imho, anyone on public assistance shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Problem solved.

I had the same experience - only there were two kids and one woman, and the vehicle was a late-model Escalade.

If we give foreigners free money, should we be surprised that they take it?

... Nearly all immigration into the USA should be halted immediately and for an indefinite period of time. Any and all illegals must be deported immediately. Automatically, the country is better off.

I am counting on Sarah to do this when she is elected in 2012. I am expecting a lot from he

Don't count on Sarah for that. Although she denies that she is for amnesty, Sarah has been and is for a pathway to citizenship for all illegal aliens.

Unfortunately anyone who calls this invasion and infestation for what it is quit effectively marginalized and mocked. Two examples are Tom Tancredo and Alan Keyes.

The politicians are planning on cutting social security.

We don’t hear one word about cutting welfare, section 8, WIC, etc.

I have seen this myself and it makes your head want to explode right? I have also been at the mall shopping for kid’s clothes. I mean really looking for sales and downsizing enormously. Look around... you will see obviously illegal hispanics with their arms filled with items. Clothes, bedding, towels... you name it. You see, you are financially better off when you don’t pay taxes, get free housing, free WIC etc...

The fact is that most politicians have long since given in to the impulse to purchase the votes of constituents with cash - in one form or another.

Or, in plain language, bribery.

Unfortunately, it’s the honest folks - who refuse on principle to put their hands out - who are losing this game.

One occasionally wonders, in cynical moments, whether we were actually well-advised to break away from King George III.

Obviously, the discussion needs to include cutting those programs too - entitlement fraud (including Medicare and Medicaid) is a huge problem that no one in government seems to have the courage or will to tackle. Why would they? The pols just kick the can down the road.

I know it sounds harsh, but seriously, if you’re not producing why should you be able to vote? And no, I’m not talking about retirees.

I think it works like this: imagine if you had no deductions from your paycheck because you work off the books. Meanwhile, your family is entitled to food stamps, free public health care, free public education and HUD housing vouchers. In other words, a good chunk of your family’s basic food, health and housing needs are covered by other sources. On top of this, your unemployed wife is collecting a welfare check that goes up with the birth of each child. Essentially, you can apply your entire income to an automobile. So, if you’re making just $500 bucks a week washing dishes or landscaping, you have plenty of money for a big loaded SUV.

As our businesses sputter along on the edge of catastrophe, alternating with some months when we can actually make our basic bills from earned income, I investigated SNAP and homestead tax relief in my state.

For food stamps, you need to supply 3 years worth of tax returns and they have a database that can follow all your bank accounts. You need to have less than $2000 in cash assets and no Universal/Whole Life that can be borrowed against.

For property tax relief, you need to be over 65 and have less than $25,000 in cash assets. However, it is a pool and the amount of relief varies from applicant to applicant and from year to year. You need to apply yearly.

We still have cash. I have been advised to hide it. I doubt I can do that and besides, I really don't even know how nor would I be able to face my tax-paying friends, knowing I was mooching on them. But the day looms when we will *qualify* unless things improve.

Is California so lax that they don't check or do they just not check illegals? BTW, I see the same sorts with full carts, many kids and expensive to own and drive SUVs in LaCrosse, WI. While I grimly pick up my small list of groceries and cleaning supplies, they are happily having a party in the aisles with several women and overflowing carts and kids blocking the way while they chat, laugh and talk on cells. This must be their main social activity, as my husband has pointed out the bored and morose husbands standing off to the side, enduring the shopping. He has even commiserated with a few and the Mexican guys always respond affirmatively.

Start photographing welfare cheats

lets make a website and send it to Welfare and see if they do anything

The government ADMITS welfare is only 27% efficient

That means for every $27,000 per year given out there is $73,ooo in COSTS to give that money away

Or.. for every person on welfare, there is a full-time government employee

"You want anger, go to one of your govt buildings where food stamps and welfare are handed out, looks like a damn auto show in the parking lot. I was there for someone else but I had to ask how someone driving a 40,000 car can get welfare and he said they claim a $300 car with little or no income, they don’t have the manpower to check it all out"

WITH THE MONEY WE ARE SPENDING???

THE "DONT HAVE THE MANPOWER"????

THEY SHOULD DAM WELL BE MAKING THAT THEIR PRIMARY OBJECTIVE- STOPING WASTE AND FRAUD

That won’t work because the cars probably are not registered to them. In another life I was an account clerk for the Food Stamps program (back when they got actual stamps). We had a fraud investigator that worked full time in our office. He would patrol the parking lot and write down license plate numbers of all the nice cars in the lot and cross reference them with clients names. They never matched.
People who are on the system know the rules and are experts at gaming the system.
