I saw that, too. Pretty interesting aspect of their society. Thank goodness we still have a degree of that in the South. Its slowly fading away, tho.
Same thing here in Midwest. I helped with the flood control
in ‘93 and there was no looting. Some big shot reporter told
a sandbagger he was amazed there was none. The sandbagger
replied with “you’d get shot”. The surprised reporter asked
if the police had been authorized to shoot. “Police?” said
the incredulous sandbagger.
The little factory I worked for in 93 let an Iowa native that worked with us go to help with sandbagging. He ended up taking two other young guys with him to help. My boss paid them all for 40 hours per week for the 10 days they were there.
