Thirteen people have been killed and 10 injured in a tour bus accident in New York City, officials say.
The bus overturned on the New England Thruway in the Bronx at about 0530 (1030 GMT) on Saturday, a spokesman for the city's fire department said.
It slid on its side and then hit a light pole which sheared off the top of the bus, the spokesman said.

Hearing that a tractor trailer clipped the bus and kept on going.
A terrible tragedy. I suspect most of the passengers were sleeping.
Yikes...I ride those buses regularly between Boston and NYC.They’re cheap and resonably comfortable.appearently a local NYC TV/radio station is reporting that an eyewitness says he saw a tractor trailor truck cut off the bus, causing the accident. If true I hope thay find that truck driver and charge him with 15 (?) counts of first degree muder.
Terrible

That is messed up, but not surprising. God help those people, and especially their families.
Praying for the families affected.

Not that I've noticed.
What’s the point of a tour bus going 60 mph? You’re not going to see very much that way.
Some explanation...
This is not really a tour bus but a shuttle bus between gambling casinos in Connecticut and NYC. The accident was on a section of I-95.
Oh. I see now. I thought at first it was one of those
Gray Line double decker buses.
This bus was coming from one of our local casinos here in CT, according to our local newspaper.
Haven't been on that kind of bus in many moons. From the outside, the newer ones look to be fairly plush.
I travel this stretch ... very dicey on good days. Prayers to the victims and their families.
I’ve been noticing as a driver and especially in the northeast that tractor trailor drivers have been more aggressive in cutting into lanes as I have been cut off by a few. Its quite dangerous and more seem to be doing it.

...and probably over 65.
BTW, that was a serious freak accident. That pole was a meat grinder for the passengers.
Don't know if you see them down your way but here in the Northeast there's a company that operates between Boston,NYC and DC that have the double deckers.I've ridden on one a few times and it's really cool riding up top in the very front seat.Last summer one of that company's double deckers tried to get under a bridge that was too low and several people up top were killed.
