CMS Puts 2012 Medicare Fee Cut at Nearly 30 Percent

WASHINGTON -- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has estimated that in 2012 Medicare physician reimbursement will be cut by 29.5%.

When President Obama signed a bill in 2010 to postpone the scheduled 25% cut in Medicare reimbursement through 2011, physicians were aware that the pay cut would be greater than 25% come 2012. And, if CMS' estimate holds true, it will be.

As a senior citizen I can already attest to the changes within my cardiologists practice and this is before the great Obamacare is put in place. No longer am I getting the regular testing I used to get...blood work lab shut down and now taking longer for results because of need to send out....office staff cut at least 50% and more on the way. Having had two open heart surgeries, one major heart attack and one valve replaced I guess I’m one of those that the non-existant “death panel” will deem not worthy of any more testing or proper care. My doctor fears for the future care of his patients and in the end his practice.......

These cuts are mandated by law. Congress then issues a wavier and the cuts are not made. It happens every year. The CBO figures on Obamacare had to assume the cuts would be made, knowing full well that they are never made. It doesn’t matter who is President.

See! There's no such thing as death panels. There's no panel that sits around deciding who gets to live and who gets to die. Instead, they'll target the practices that deal with the most severe health issues and cut services. That way, no one has to actually make the decision.

My beloved mother had OHS in the 80’s with a pig valve installed. It was that diligent medical care that she continued to receive that bought her another 22 years. If Obama would have been around then, my dear mother wouldn't have even been approved for that surgery.

How low we've sunk since then. God bless and I hope for your sake that your doctor is able to work around these constraints.
