Been in my share of tornados. Back in 1998 I was within 50 feet of the one that went through downtown Nashville.
Mother Nature is trying to get me. Been struck my lightening also.
I remember when that tornado went through Nashville. You were that close to it? YIKES!!
My hubby’s been struck by lightning, too . . . . three times! I refuse to be anywhere near him during a thunderstorm.
You two don’t ever need to meet. Mother Nature WILL get y’all. ;-)
Interesting...
I was in the parking lot behind Exit-In, talking on a cell phone looking North at the low-level fast-moving clouds. Told the lady on the phone that it looked like a tornado was coming. She said - “funny you should mention that as they just announced a tornado warning for Davidson County on the radio”. This was pre-sirens in Nashville.
I looked to my left and what did I see? A giant, 1/2 mile wide, rotating, rain-filled monster. And it was coming through Centennial Park (for those who don’t know, it was less than 1/2 mile from me and closing quickly). Looked around for a place to go, then a lady opened the back door of her business, said “get in here”, and I ran for that door.
By the time I made it there, the storm was on me, the wind was very strong, and debris was hitting the side of the building all around me. Once we were inside, the front plate glass window imploded and debris swirled inside.
In just seconds it was over and I was able to go out the front of that building and watch the storm travel down Church Street until hitting the city directly.
I’d say the bulk of the storm was less than 10 seconds behind me as the plate glass blew out just as soon as we got the door closed and moved into the inner part of the building.
Was a fascinating experience, one I have retold many times ;)
Where were you?
