There is a guideline in the welfare system that says, you are allowed to possess a vehicle, clothes, material goods, household appliances and items, etc., but you can’t have more than (i think it’s) $2,500 in the bank in cash without impacting benefits.

So.......money is immediately spent on material goods...like big cars and $200 JimmyChoo shoes. And that is why some welfare recipients dress better and drive better cars than us working slobs putting money in the bank for our retirement and childrens’ education.

The welfare system is set up to keep people on welfare. It needs major reform, such as mandating savings and a set time for weaning out of the welfare system.

You are 100% right. I know one guy wife 2 kids. He on purpose elected not to have renewal of his security guard license. Now he stays home with wife and kids, they are pulling in some good money from welfare, include they all get practically free health care through medicaid, very low copay on medications. He gets so much for free he remains unemployed for 4 years now.Doesn’t even bother looking for work.
