To: Straight Vermonter

I was tuned in to the www in 1998. Lot’s of mischief to be had then... 1995? not so sure that it would have been devoid of all things illegal.

The explosive used was a common mining explosive known as ANFO (for Ammnium Nitrate/Fuel Oil), and is pretty basic as explosives go, with a yield at about 40% of TNT. Yep, it can be mixed by almost anyone with the basic ingredients. Getting it to go off effectively is the trick, and a truckload of it is crude, but effective once detonated.

Even so, there were irregularities in the damage done to the building which suggest that other explosives may have been involved.

Beiruit, and the Khobar towers, iirc, used the same explosive and a similar M.O.
