Walker, cut collecting union dues. It will bust the union’s back.

Yep. If they had done something like that when I was a union member I would have dropped the union like a hot rock.

I didn’t need union protection because I chose to make myself a valued employee.

Not only that, without collective bargaining the govt does not have to buy the health insurance for the govt employees from the more expensive union owned insurance company. Also, without collective bargaining bad employees, including teachers, can be fired and tenure will be ended.

The headline should actually read,

“Red Corruption puts Wisconsin in Blue”

since unions are run by Leftists who have always been associated with the color red and Red political ideology. And they love to shed blood verbally and physically in order to justify any and all actions to further their agenda.

Taxpayers are being swindled by a system in which their interests come second LAST.

Meanwhile, Wall St investment firms commit green mail with the US Economy, and the American Thinker says what about it?

Have no sympathy for the WI public employees union as 3.3 billion in debt cannot be ignored, however let us not pretend that some employees union is the only player in the mug the taxpayer game.

I think Illinois is the only state in the midwest that isn’t seeing a union beatdown of some sort. Wisconsin is getting the headlines but there are battles all over the place.

It's the slugs in the union that suck the life out of good workers like you.

They serve two purposes only,to protect worthless workers and make union bosses rich and powerful.

Good point. There is no excuse for the state withholding those union dues from state employee paychecks and forwarding the money on to the unions!

I heard that 95% of members would opt out if they could, and had to personally write a check monthly to their union.

Yep. Why try harder if you're just going to make the same as some lazy bastard who keeps his job because of union protection. My union steward hated me calling union dues "union tax".

Walker should issue an executive order ending paycheck withholding of union dues, citing Communications Workers v. Beck.

Cut off the money, ASAP.

Thread Winner! I was never union, but becoming a valued employee was (and is ) central to my self-esteem and sense of morality.

I learned the hard way about unions when I went to work for a railroad years ago and opted out of joining the union.

My supervisor informed me.....join or get fired....

I had no choice.

Great job too that I enjoyed but the union atmosphere sucked!

I bet it's true.

It's hard earned money for most that is just taken away like a tax.

I don't know about WI, but in PA tenure and union membership were 2 separate things. Tenure was given to the teachers (I think in the 30's) specifically because they were not allowed to unionize.

I believe that in WI it is not separate.
