"Single-sex education is growing rapidly in the United States following evidence that boys and girls may do better academically and socially by being in separate classrooms.
In January, at least 524 public schools had classrooms that were single sex, up from about a dozen in 2002, according to the National Association for Single-Sex Public Education.
The association did not have figures on how many schools with co-educational classrooms have single-sex lunchrooms. School principals generally do not require approval of the school board or state departments of education to have single-sex lunches."

The girls really seem to like it because they get their girl time without having to worry about boys...But, suppose for a moment, that boys "really seem to like" single-sex football or wrestling...

Junior high school kids act like idiots in the presence of other junior high school students of the opposite sex? Who woulda thunk it?

Don’t Muslims force men and women to eat separately? Why would we want to emulate them?

We do it for a better education of both boys and girls, they do it for a completely different reason.

Perhaps if they actually employed some discipline to those who do act up, that would solve the problem.
If I pulled that kind of stunt when I was in school, I would have gotten three licks in the Principal’s office.

I agree with the concept. Even at a tender age I preferred to dine exclusively with members of the same, or on members of the opposite sex.

I won’t argue that, corporal punishment is the best, time proven method for a civil society there is.

Junior high school kids act like idiots in the presence of other junior high school students of the opposite sex?As opposed to when they are in the presence of kids of the same gender?
They're knuckleheads, no matter what, I should know, I was once in Junior High, myself.

They are complete, off-the-chart knuckleheads around members of the opposite sex.
Separation during certain segments of their schedule is a healthy thing.

Only Liberals firmly believe they can rewire human nature. When I was in junior high, the worst we had to worry about was the occasional fight. Granted I graduated JHS in 1999, thinking back to those years, the times weren’t that bad. Hell, we even played segregated football in the mornings. No other students or teachers ever said anything about it, so we continued until people lost interest.
