The Liberals WANT the National Guard, they want to stage a Kent State V2.0.

I hate to say it, but it may take one of those brave Republicians to get hurt before people snap out of it. I pray it does not come to that.

Walker has held on, he has shown great restraint. I hope he doesnt fall into the trap.

I’ll tell you a story about my grandfather and the CIO(A), it was the CIOA before it joined with the AFL.

My grandfather was elected to be the first president of the Electrical workers and Machinists at RCA, after WWII. He had previously been the VP of Radio and TV workers, the house union at RCA. The CIO got into RCA without a strike and it seemed like everything was going smoothly for all concerned. That is, until the union bosses at the CIO decided that they didn’t want my grandfather to be the president. He was too highly skilled, the top tool and die maker, who worked with all the design engineers, making all the prototypes for all the new products. He was also the son of a university English professor and very articulate. In other words, the CIO saw my grandfather as a threat to their agenda.

So, the CIO bosses persuaded RCA to offer my grandfather a job in management. My grandfather turned down the offer. He loved his job, big things were happening at RCA and he was a big part of those new innovations. It was exciting, worth more than the additional pay of a management position.

So, a few months after my grandfather turned down the job offer, he and my grandmother were run down by a hit and run driver, as they stood on the curb in front of their home.

A few months after that, RCA closed the plant in Camden, NJ and moved to the mid-west, without the CIO. I don’t think that RCA ever allowed the CIO back into one of their plants.

Kent State V2.0

Funny you would mention Kent State. I have been thinking about that all day. I was in high school in Ohio, about 1.5 hours away, when that went down. That ended any hope in H I had in going there, even though they had the best program in the country for what I wanted to major in.

One thing about the episode...it ended a lot of this nonsense for many years. Perhaps it is time for the V2.0 version.
