A father still enraged over his young son’s death more than 35 years ago has vowed to kill the boy’s murderer if he is released several years early from his 40-year sentence, as now scheduled.

Michael Woodmansee, who was a neighbor of the Foreman family, killed Jason Foreman in South Kingstown in 1975 and hid the boy’s shellacked bones in his house for years.

A Department of Correction lawyer said Woodmansee earned time off for good behavior and it can be revoked only if he misbehaves.

>If we wanted to practice eye-for-an-eye kind of justice, we might as well join Al Qaeda. We’re better and more civilized than the Muslim world, and there’s no need to stoop to their level.

The problem here in America isn’t that we have eye-for-an-eye Justice, but that we are people with one-eye taken from them being sentenced to have their other eye taken, so to speak. The New Black Panther / Department of Justice [in]action and the one guy of whom the Judicial system took his ranch and gave it to an illegal-alien/trespasser are two examples of injustice. (Or if you prefer: social/racial considered ‘justice.’)

At least that’s how it seems to me right now.

I’m just saying that there are ways we can punish molesters without violating the Eighth Amendment or resorting to a 12th century form of justice.

I quite agree.
However, I do not think that Capital [or Corporal] Punishment violates the Eighth as some would, no doubt, assert.
In fact, it is patently obvious that to lock a man up like an animal for years and years, thereby taking his life, w/o the killing, is much worse than simply killing him and letting him die with some measure of dignity. {My theory is such long sentences are used so as to present a false moral-stance, and cow people who would dare ‘question authority.’}
