I do not agree at all with this ruling. This guy needed to spend time quality time in jail for his crime. To be fined $500 and sent to anger-management class, in addition to some restitution, just does not cut it. This guy needs to pay for his crime and, imo, he has not. He is probably laughing is head off as gotten off so easily.

prevous threads when this first happened last December:

You haven’t really experienced skiing until you’ve skied Bears Town, South Korea. I like to refer to it as “bumper car skiing.” Koreans that have never been on skis in their life go to the top of the mountain and commence to come down the hill with no idea of how to stop, turn, or avoid collisions. They do not use any peripheral vision, it’s more like tunnel vision. You spend most of your day avoiding a serious crash, skiing around clothing, poles, skiis, ipods, teeth, hair, and blood scattered all over the mountain. The most annoying thing is when you are waiting in the chairlift line and they stand right behind you, yep, right on top of your skis, no courtesy what so ever.

Her father requested charges be filed against Filler, who was banned for life from Vail's six ski resorts.

Good.

Filler, charged with misdemeanor child abuse, told deputies he thought the girl was skiing carelessly and had seriously injured his son. The boy was not hurt, however, and Filler apologized.

Sad to say I have many friends who believe that their children are made of glass and would have overreacted to the situation.

The boy gets bumped hard and knocked over. The immediate assumption is he is hurt, maybe because he screamed or cried when he hit the snow.

While serious injury can occur from a simple fall or bump, that is not generally the case. Rule to follow: kids bounce. Just like most of us growing up, they can take some pretty tough blows and pretty hard falls and keep going.

I feel bad for this girl, but I also feel bad for this 4 year old who is being raised by someone who is so overprotective.

If that was a member of my family, I would beat the hell out of him with his skis. Where I’m from, we don’t hit women. Period.

First they ban DDT, then a renowned malaria expert. What are we to do? Millions are dying of malaria, while the rich get richer!

I agree. He can just thank the good Lord that it wasn’t my daughter he hit with his fist. I would be in prison. He would be in hell.

They might have found a conservative criminal here ... if so the left will do whatever they can to trash the man...

Since Mr Filler’s Renown Expert license has been, presumably, revoked, may I have it?

I wonder if the guy realized the age of the 14-year old since they
sometimes wear so much gear you cannot see their faces.

Running over a 4-year old would piss me off also, but hitting a kid
knowing it was a 14-year old I wouldn't do, the punch would break her neck.

Approximate size of a 4-year -old

I agree based on what’s been reported.

I’d sentence him to go sit in the eastbound lanes of I-70 at Vail Pass. We’ll see how long he lasts there. :-)
