WASHINGTON The Republican congressman who has organized controversial hearings into radical Islam called Muslims "part of the mosaic" of America Wednesday and said they shouldn't feel threatened or intimidated by his inquiry.
"If there is going to be animosity, I would blame it on my opponents," Rep. Peter King said in a nationally broadcast interview.
King, who heads the House Homeland Security Committee, has come under withering criticism for the hearings scheduled to begin Thursday. Protests have already started, and comparisons to McCarthyism and the era of communist witch hunts are being heard.
In one appearance on morning television, King was asked if he was singling out the Muslim community rather than focusing on a more generalized terror threat against America.

We surely don’t want to tred on any 14th century goat fornicating toes.
I’ve always wondered that myself.
And oh, by the way....the Rosenburgs WERE guilty. At least according to KGB files.
Retch. The mosaic? How about the "tapestry?" How about calling their community "vibrant"?"
I loathe those cliched phrases.

This may be one of the few times cspan is on in my house.
If the muslims would criticize and self police their radicals, this would not be necessary.
The answer to your rhetorical question is found in the progressive rant that, “McCarthy stigmatized mainstream Americans for their political opinions.” Of course, today hard core Marxism is indeed the central political belief of progressives, unionists and econuts. Respect for private property, capitalism and respect for the Constitution are stigmatized as extreme.
From Judicial watch
----Muslim charities exposed ISNAs terrorist connections and aggressive campaigns to place radical leaders in mosques throughout the U.S.
--ISNA pushes the Saudi-Wahhabi form of Islam, which teaches that all non-Muslims are enemies and heathens. In 2008 the Justice Department named ISNA an unindicted co-conspirator in a Texas case involving a similar group (Holy Land Foundation) convicted of funneling millions to Hamas.
And remember, we’re not a “melting pot”, according to the liberals, we are now a “salad bowl”. The salad bowl analogy means that some of us are lettuce, some are tomatoes, some are broccoli, some are radishes, some are croutons, etc. meaning that there is no unified American culture anymore. Or that’s how they want to proceed.
When they pour the salad dressing on us, is that at least a unifying element in the salad bowl analogy???
heh, aren't all of them commmies still protesting in Wisconsin playing their bongos and smoking rope? I hope Peter King can post ALL threats on billboards, Times Square the Goodyear blimp then when it's a;; over we can turn all them mosques into carnita burrito factories, pig stys, and kill houses for out special forces then toss all muzzies and their nut ball supporters in dhimmi camps/slums like the scum have done since pre crusade days to all Jews and conquered peoples.
Hey, tax them to oblivion and turn their Qur'an on themselves. It would be brutal but interesting to have a few role reversals like mutialating men instead of women and forcing them into burkhas, oh my imagination. Just wrote something similar on a libbie site and they call me such sweet expletives, whilst questioning my intellect. I'll HAVE YOU KNOW I HAVE AN IQ HIGHER THAN GADDAFI!! AND ALL CODE PINK MEMBERS COMBINED( has to be over 45 or so heh)
Corrected factual error.
As a professional politician, King sounds like an amateur and a loser.
I expect him soon to say he no longer beats his wife, either...
Nothing, actually.
To all of us old enough to have been alive when it happened, it was all a good thing, and subsequently, he was proven spectacularly correct.
Only the immature of body or intellect believe otherwise.
Ignorance is a perfect intellectual soporific.
There; fixed it for you.
I always thought the "melting pot" was the perfect analogy. For those in Rio Vista and Detroit, it reminds us that the product of the contemporary melting pot could produce alloys which are stronger, infinitely more useful and versatile than its constituent parts.
If the political leadership had a clue about what they were doing.
Who will be the first Dem. Congressman to use the line, “Have you no shame, Congressman?”.
Read the book “Blacklisted by History”, as it is the definitive, comprehensive and irrefutable chronology of the mistreatment of McCarthy by the Truman and Eisenhower administrations and even by spineless politicians in his own party.
McCarthy was a good, decent man who loved his country and sacrificed his reputation and eventually, his life in its defense.
The left has successfully vilified him, and every generation unknowingly carries it on.
I feel just as liable to blackball today as any of those foorkin commies did back in the fifties. Ay GOD I wish we would have taken care of the problem once and for all back then. Communists. You can’t live with them.
