One more thing. This often goes unmentioned in discourse with those who only see a power-hungry Executive, but a President’s first priority is almost always preserving the power of the Executive Branch. We are not a parliamentary nation. We have a Chief Executive and his powers as outlined in our constitution are significant. Congress tries to grab power too and sometimes they try take power that doesn’t belong to them from the Executive branch. I would examine context and the ebb and flow of checks and balances and of the politics of the specific situation before coming to a conclusion whether Bush broke the law or not. Using Executive Privilege or ‘Singularity’ was more than likely a response to a legislative power grab by Democrats. I would bet money on it.

Logical Fallacy? That’s just something you throw at people who ask you to prove the lies you’re posting [...]

Fine. Explain the "logical reasoning" that takes you from "Now, here we are, reaping what has been sown for so long" (what I wrote) to "George W. Bush being the reason for President Obama's power grab" (what you claimed follows from what I wrote).
(I'll be right back...gotta go get the popcorn...this MUST be good!)

and that you suggest ‘my reasoning is clouded by it’ is Ad-Hominem.

LOL!

Try looking up what ad hominem means. I don't give a hoot whether you, your pet parakeet, or last Thursday's leftovers crawled to the keyboard and posted the fallacious reasoning--a fallacy is a fallacy, regardless of source.

This is not merely Executive Privilege: Plan for Tribunals Would Hew to the First Series

And thumbing one's nose at a SCOTUS ruling on Congressional directive is contemptuous--just the same sort of thing the current occupant of the White House is doing.

Your original comments: (Emphasis Mine)

Remember back when President Bush told us that he didn't have to follow or enforce the law, and with all the talk about "unitary executive theory," many FReepers cheered the idea and flamed those who warned, "But what about when Hillary's in power?"

You clearly stated that Bush told us that 'he didn't have to follow or enforce the law.' You've also implied that you believe this 'unitary executive theory' is subverting the 'law' and you expressed reservation at this move by Bush if 'Hillary's in power.' implying that you see this action as potentially abusive when the 'wrong person' is in charge.

Oh, those heady days, when Democrats could never get power again, according to many.

Sarcasm. 'I told you so.'

Now, here we are, reaping what has been sown for so long. And President Obama is worse than Hillary Clinton.

In summary, you've clearly drawn a line between 'Bush's willful disregard for the law' and Obama's power grab and not only have you done that, you basically stated that you 'warned' us from the beginning: "...and flamed those who warned, "But what about when Hillary's in power? ...Oh, those heady days...reaping what has been sown for long...Obama is worse than Hillary..."

All I've done is ask that you prove that. You see the normal push and shoving between the branches of government as proof that somehow Bush is a criminal. (If Bush 'disregarded the law' he would be a 'criminal', right?) I simply don't agree with that and I especially don't agree that Bush's actions had anything to do with what Obama is doing. On that note, Thanks for playing and take care.

More good news.

Why shouldn't I want more people to get waivers from Obamacare?

[...] preserving the power of the Executive Branch

Give me a break.

The name of the office is "president"...as in "the presider"..."he who presides"...

Read the Constitution and you'll find what a limited position it was intended to be. Chief Executives have sought to expand beyond that, not preserve what was granted.

If you honestly believe that Bush created the 'Obama Monster' then you can keep on thinking that. (I'm summarizing your thought process...) I understand the politics and the constitution just fine. I don't hide behind 'read the constitution' arguments. I happen to think that's kind of lame.

I don’t place much stock in political discussion on the Internet anymore. I apologize for my cynicism, but I happen to think that all of us do a great disservice to each other with our mutual arrogance. I hope you have a great weekend and I mean that lightheartedly. Cheers.

The best to you, and I mean that in all earnestness, my FRiend. Perhaps we can at least agree that the two of us, and George W. Bush, have a love for this nation and wish the best for it.
