I must admit, I'm with you, Toots. To now be equated with those who have never contributed one blessed thing to society, who have always been the “victims” makes me want to slap somebody senseless. I am far from aggressive, wouldn't hurt a fly, but I guess the Scots/Irish in me (little though there be) makes me want to box somebody’s ears and wash their mouth out with lye soap.

And, yes, I get it that we should be mad at having had our money extorted, but the fact of the matter is we had no choice and now they are making us ashamed to have been duped out of what would have been our retirement funds. I hope the younger generation gets a break, but it appears they will be extorted as we were.

It’s gonna be far, far worse for us. Gen X and Y are going to enjoy a lower standard of living than the baby boomer generation, pay far more in taxes than your generation, and get no Social Security or Medicare. We’ll probably be advised by gov’t end of life counselors to get a life ending shot when we stop producing for the collective.

Even worse, it’s coming from people on Free Republic, not just the libs. I wonder how they’ll feel when the same exact line of attack is used to shame and eventually grab their 401ks and other legitimate retirement funds?

It has to be possible, with enough of the right kind of great American minds, to determine a way to preserve the course of all that have paid in to date, with their expectations of what would be returned, and at the same time fix the insolvency in a fiscally sound way.

If we had a President who was willing to grow all sectors of the economy, that would help. But then that would mean putting white people back to work...
