according to a new IBD/TIPP poll.
I would actually like to see the polling trend for this question back to early 2000's. The people were FOR drilling in 2005!! The people were FOR drilling in 2008 and the people are STILL FOR drilling in 2011.
The problem is that we can't get a !%%!@%!@#%@!#% through Congress.
First, the Exxon Valdes accident occurred just as legislation was about to pass.
Then, Clinton had a chance to vote on it and vetoed it.
Then, in 2002, the Senate rejected a bill passed by the House.
Then, in 2005, the Senate AGAIN removed language from legislation to open up Section 1002 to drilling.
Also, there is a Congressional Moratorium on coastal drilling WHICH IS RENEWED ANNUALLY!!!
There are CLEAR strategic reasons to drill all over. Every time the Middle East becomes unstable, the US could turn on our Gas and Oil taps.
And as far as the environmentalists? I was just south of the Arctic Circle a few weeks ago and THERE IS NOTHING UP THERE! There is no FRAGILE ecosystem. The ecosystem has survived the extreme weather of the area, the ecosystem has been naturally HARDENED!!!

Q. Why was Sarah Palin’s Alaska pulled from reruns on cable?
A. Because she took the camera crews to ANWR and showed everyone that it is nothing but a mosquito filled, godforsaken mud flat.
