The body of a young woman was found in Joran van der Sloot's Lima hotel room five years to the day of Natalee Holloway's disappearance on a school trip to Aruba. Prosecutors in Peru say van der Sloot has admitted killing Stephany Flores after she found material on his laptop relating to Natalee. Peruvian prosecutors say Joran van der Sloot killed Stephany Flores in cold blood and want an extra long sentence. The Dutchman's lawyer says it was a spontaneous, emotional act and his client should face no more than three to five years.
Van der Sloot's Peruvian lawyer, Max Altez, told the television program "Domingo al Dia" that the death was the result of a violent argument, not intentional. Altez says he's asking his client face a 3-5 year sentence, not the 30 years prosecutors are asking for.
Edward Alvarez, an attorney for the Flores family, told El Commercio that the family rejects the defense claims and is backing the prosecution. No trial date has been set yet and there's still plenty of legal wrangling unresolved, including whose responsibility is it to provide a Dutch-Spanish translator. The Dutch embassy has said it's not their job.
Mountain Brook teenager Natalee Holloway disappeared on a school trip to Aruba in May 2005. She was last seen leaving a club with van der Sloot and two of his friends. Van der Sloot was never charged...Natalee's body has never been found.
Van der Sloot is also under a federal indictment issued here in Alabama charging him with wire fraud and extortion. The FBI says he promised the family information about Natalee's fate, took their money, but never provided the information.
Van der Sloot has told a variety of versions of what happened that night in 2005....frequently to Dutch newspaper and television reporters. Natalee's mother Beth accompanied a Dutch tv crew into van der Sloot's Peruvian prison last year. The confrontation yielded footage for a 2 parter on Dutch TV but no information on Natalee's fate....
During the lulls in gruesome automobile accidents, they dig up ancient Incan mummies and display the artifacts. They also have earthquakes. He is entertaining, but they really don’t need him.

How tall are those mummies? Five feet tall? I’m just guessing
This guy is a psycho serial killer. He needs to be kept in Peru permanently. A good place for him.
I don’t remember. They aren’t very big. Johan Reinhard has written a book about finding one of them.
I looked in a book I have. One find was a Moche ruler, the Lord of Sipan, and they have extrapolated from his bones that he was 5’ feet, 5” inches tall. That would be a mature, well nourished person, so he was probably taller than average.
Only for treason, terrorism, war crimes and desertion.

Thanks much. I was unaware of recent discoveries of Inca mummies. I know more about the Aztecs and Mayans. I know about the Nazca lines and saw the Tony Bourdain episode in Peru
Read the comments below this article. Isn’t this one the truth?
“There is an innocent woman alive right now who will die in 20 months when he is out.”

The Lord of Sipan was in the late 80s, I believe, and his civilization is Moche. I find them just as interesting, if not more so, than the Incas. This is a great book (although a little old, there are more recent books about this Moche, but this one reads like a novel.)

Definitely the truth. Someone’s daughter. Someone’s sister. Someone’s friend. To be sacrificed to the cowardice and politically correctness of our criminal justice systems, including that of Aruba, the US and of Peru. That girl in Peru would be alive today if the Dutch-Aruban authorities had done their damn job.
BTTT
Why does he need a translator? He knows the language. He spoke to them in the Peruvian language when he was being interrogated.
