Marine Le Pen poll rating shock for French politics
BBC ^ | March 6, 2011 | Unknown

An opinion poll suggesting far-right leader Marine Le Pen could win the first round of next year's presidential election has caused a shock in France.

The survey for Le Parisien newspaper puts the National Front leader, who took over from her father Jean-Marie in January, ahead of all other candidates.

It gives her 23% of the vote, 2% ahead of both President Nicolas Sarkozy and Socialist leader Martine Aubry.

However, some analysts question the accuracy of the online poll.

Online surveys are arguably less reliable than telephone polling, and Le Parisien's poll assumes Ms Aubry will be chosen as the Socialists' candidate, while the party has yet to decide.

Jean-Marie Le Pen was the shock runner-up in the first round of the 2002 election, only to be massively defeated in the second against Jacques Chirac.

The le Pens, pere et fille are not a droit. They are closest to neo-Nazis & Fascism than they are to American Conservatism & the Right. They are Statists and National Socialists.

I think there are many French who do not care. The mainstream parties have ignored the issue for too long, to the point where there is only a slight chance that France will avoid takeover by Islamists, EVEN IF drastic measures are used.

She and her father are closer to neo-Nazis with whom they have longtime close ties. They are anti-Semites, anti- Israel anti-American deniers who have expressed admiration for Hitler.

Even if every single thing you say is true, if they are the only alternative to Islamist takeover, there will be a large percentage of people who will decide that Le Pen is preferable.

Election is 14 months away. The Left is divided, & there is no clear candidate.

Marine le Pen is her father in drag. She has no experience, & shares the same Statist, anti-American, anti-Semitic anti-capitalist racist & xenophobic ideas of her neo-fascist Hitler loving Holocoast denying father. Don't ever confuse American Conservatism with the neo-fascist le Pens.

About the Poll: "interactive" i.e. Internet polls are, as we all know, completely unreliable. Example Zogby. They aren't even the "snapshot in time" that scientific polls aremeant to be. There exists a system of methodology and weighting in real polling. Any poll 14 months before an election is meaningless.

There are many "European Rights". I would have preferred Philippe de Villiers of Mouvement Pour la France. It is a traditionalist party, one which abhors the EU and Eurabia. Houwever, Republican France is not about to vote for a viscount.
I do not trust any Le Pen or the National Front. Putting aside Holocaust denial, FN included many Third Positionists (fascists) until the 1990s. Jean-Marie Le Pen hates America as much as the Muslims. As for their economics, they believe that protectionism can prop up the welfare state and unionism.

We don’t agree with the ‘European Right’ on everything

They are statist fascist nationalists. Theyre almost as useless as the Left.

Thanks Cincinna for the ping, thanks decimon for the topic. This fits very well with the other pinged topic about the new foreign minister.

Villiers is an effete idiot, and Monarchist. He doesn’t believe in individual liberty, but in the divine right of Kings.
These people are so far outside the mainstream of modern thinking . it isn’t his particule that makes him unpopular. It is his elitism and effeminate manner of speaking.

I should have written Viscount and Monarchist. Elitism and effete mannerism is the norm for the ruling class in France. It is not beneficial for someone trying to lead opposition to the this traitor class.

” Elitism and effete mannerism is the norm for the ruling class in France.”
Not correct.
Firstly, the aristocrats in France are not the ruling class. There are just as many on the Left as on the Right.
They are most often not elitist, but down to Earth unpretentious people. at least the many that I know.
While they have good manners and are polite, none have an effete manner or affectations in speech. No lisp like Villiers, not effeminate, at least not the straight ones.
Villiers is certainly not the norm, and has very little support among them.
Almost all of my family & friends & their friends voted for Sarko.

FWIW A Vicomte is a half count, and not very high on the nobility scale.

My thoughts go back to the last time a Le Pen made it to the second round.

He got crushed in the final vote.

I would expect a similar result if she does finish in the top two.

One improvement by the daughter over the father is she has switched from Jew hatred to Muslim hatred.

Pere Le Pen was making alliances with the Muslims.

Jean-Marie le Pen runs the show. Marine is just his puppet.
Nobody ever said they weren’t clever. She has given a facelift to old hate-filled ideas. More acceptable, less crude & vulgar on the surface, but deep down, they both are anti-Semites, and hate America & everything we stand for.
A wolf in sheep’s clothing, or in this case, high heels, is still a wolf , & still dangerous!
You are right about le Pen forming alliances with Islamists
in France & abroad. Didn’t Hitler form alliances with Arab states & the Moslem Brotherhood during WWII? For money, yes.
But never forget they share a common enemy- the Jews.
.

You are correct about the Election of 2002 where there was no Socialist (PS) candidate because Chirac came in first with levPen second. Lionel Jospin, the PS candidate was eliminated in the first round.
Chirac won the election with well over 85% of the vote.
Things have very much changed today, & there is no guarantee the end result would be the same.
If it were Sarko who was eliminated in the first round, I’m not sure the electorate on the Right would vote for the Socialist.
We’ll be following all developments.

Thanks for the info.

Le Pen is no ally for the West or Jews.

The 2002 election had a flawed man who cared about his countrymen in Le Pen, vs a flawed man who blatantly led a cabal which bled the country dry for personal enrichment, Chirac...
and the people of France chose Chirac overwhelmingly.

BTW, I do not like the Le Pen family, the daughter is most definitely anti-Semitic to the point of supporting forced exile.
