A senior commander of Irans Revolutionary Guards warned the establishment that if the ninth parliament is not healthy, the coming year may be a year of bloodshed.
FARS news agency reported that General Aubnoosh told a gathering of Guardian Council watchmen in Qazvin: If the results of the parliamentary elections are not in line with our values, the coming year will be so dangerous it may even lead to bloodshed.
He recommended great care in choosing people who can run for election and thorough investigation before announcing candidate eligibility.
The ninth parliamentary elections of Iran will take place next year, and the Guardian Council determines the eligibility of candidates and supervises the election process.
Commander Aubnoosh went on to laud the actions of the Supreme Leader in confronting the so-called sedition referring to the protest movement that has challenged the legitimacy of Mahmoud Ahmadinejads victory in 2009.
He warned, however, that this movement is now moving toward coalition with another movement called the deviation. He predicted greater complexity and difficulty in future elections.
Ahmadinejads victory in the last presidential election was challenged by two reformist candidates, MirHosein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi, who after a year of government pressure and isolation were finally put under house arrest last month for rallying their supporters to a march on February 14 in support of the recent Arab uprisings.
Since Mousavi and Karroubi are both considered pillars of the Islamic Republic, their refusal to accept the Ahmadinejads administration and their continued criticism of government policies has led to deep divisions in the upper echelons of power in the Islamic Republic.
We had a group referred to as the reformists that we had to confront in May of 1997, and that past sedition is the same as this one, Aubnoosh said; But now there is also something called deviation, which will need greater alertness to identify because it is more complicated.
Aubnoosh did not elaborate on this deviation movement but the reformists have repeatedly warned the establishment that failing to respond adequately to the reformist demands may lead to more extremist forces taking over the protests.
deviationism will not be tolerated.
Where have I heard that before?

Why on earth do these people bother with elections or do they just view them as opportunities to identify death worthy opponents? Never mind, I think I just answered my question.
Why do I feel like those words could just as easily have been said by some SEIU representative?
Bingo - they like to feed on others' blood. That's one of the 'values' to which he was referring.
They probably were!
Didn’t Obama say something about it being hand to hand combat if the GOP won the last election?
“Why on earth do these people bother with elections ...”
Because it looks good to the rest of the world to have elections.
Its a good thing that Jimmah made sure the Shah was run out of Iran.
Thanks nuconvert.
G’night all.
It’s great to see the Muslim brand of Democracy-—aint it? /s/
Much is written & discussed about the CIA & Mossad - at least on FR. By comparison, and as far as I'm aware, not much is known or said about the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence & Security (MOIS). Their role is not confined to Iranian dissidents at home or abroad. MOIS & its networks operate globally on various levels.
Iranian intelligence to adopt more aggressive approach Radio Zamaneh

"Irans intelligence minister says the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei is instructing his ministry to take a more aggressive approach in dealing with the enemies and intelligence agencies.
In a memo that followed the Supreme Leaders six-hour visit to the ministry of intelligence, Heydar Moslehi writes: Since the best defence is considered to be an attack, the ministry is planning aggressive attacks through intelligence services.
Young recruits and experienced servants of the Islamic Republic will take charge of this mission, which will be marked by the coalescence of youthful spirit and experience, the intelligence minister says.
He adds that the Leader has expressed satisfaction with the the intelligence ministrys efforts so far in confronting the sedition.
The Islamic Republic government refers to the protests that have arisen following allegations of fraud in the 2009 re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as sedition. In his visit to the ministry, the Supreme Leader recommended that the ministry concentrate on thorough long-term plans of action.
He also emphasized that even though the minister of intelligence is appointed by the government, the ministry should not be swayed by political partisanship and should remain consistently faithful to the leadership and the Islamic Revolution.
Irans ministry of intelligence has been instrumental in clamping down on the election protests of the past year and a half."
Iran’s Cities a Sea of Poverty
Between 44.5 and 55 percent of Iran’s urban population lives under the poverty line, according to a new report titled “Measurement and Economic Analysis of Urban Poverty.”
The paper was presented by three senior government researchers at a conference organized two weeks ago by the national statistics center (Markazeh Amareh Iran), under the aegis of several ministries, Tehran University, and the United Nations Population Fund.
The authors, Mansour Kiani, Khalil Attar, and Jila Habibi, determined that at least 23.3 million city dwellers are under the poverty line and cannot subsist on their households’ incomes. Iran’s rural population was not included in the report.

Wow. Shouldn’t surprise me, but the numbers are eye-opening.
I’m sure the regime wasn’t happy with the report.
Thanks for posting that.
The most famous Zatra of Goa is that of the temple of the Hindu deity Damodar at Zambaulim, a place located roughly 40 km away from Margao, when people walk on burning coals with bare legs.
I thought you needed to know this, cause ya never know what the furture holds...

Just checked - Doesn’t look like they’ve corrected the spelling yet.

Yeah.
"A great country is taken over by a alien who so effectively destroys it the population is forced into wearing animal skins and living in caves."
I'd pay to see that...
I had to move some furture to get at an electrical outlet.
That musta been a killer.
I’m sure your computer chair has wheels.
