The March 7 Newsweek (NewsBeast) features an article titled "David Brooks Wants to Be Friends," but there's more bridge-burning than friend-making in this interview with James Atlas. Of course, he came up in Washington through conservative opinion journalism from the National Review, the Wall Street Journal editorial page, and The Weekly Standard, but "something has changed." Conservatives are now more uncivil. Well, either that -- or his paychecks are now signed by PBS, NPR, and The New York Times:
But Brooks insists that something has changed in the past decade. Political discourse had grown coarse, he laments. Gone is the civilized era when you had liberals and conservatives instead of Republicans and Democrats, a time before the parties devolved into teams, each espousing its own values in voices grown increasingly shrill. For a high-profile journalist, he seems eager to keep his head downits not a posture easy to maintain when hes on TV every Friday night and his byline appears twice a week on the op-ed page of The New York Times.

He is a Democrat.
Usually, the only things that can be “revealed” are things that weren’t already obvious.
The bottom line.
Someone is either doing some heavy duty drugs or are really, really stupid. We've watched the commie libs totally trash Sarah Palin and her family, including an infant, for 4 years and the piggies have the nerve to call US "uncivil". Geeesh. WAKE UP AMERICA!!! The commies aren't coming, THEY'RE HERE!
Naturally. He's a fag.
If David Brooks is a conservative then Barack Obama is a centrist. I stopped paying attention to Brook’s opinions a long time ago. He is used by the left to pretend they have a ‘conservative’ on board - who just happens to agree with most Democrat positions. Nonsense.
The dirty little secret about Brooks is, he is an ignoramus. How else to explain being infatuated by the crease in the Usurper's pantleg?
He caught the Washington snooty disease, poor fellow. :)
The Bushbots LOVED creeps like Brooks and Frum and the remnants of National Review back in ‘03 when they were riding high and smearing traditional conservatives and libertarians. Disagree and you were an “unpatriotic” anti-Semite! Remember?
Hopefully, these lightweights are reaping the infamy they sowed.
Brooks is truly deserving of pejorative, so here goes-David Brooks is a stinkin’ POS; and, I don’t need no stinkin’ POS; therefore, I don’t need David Brooks.
Neither, Mr. Brooks knows who pays him and performs appropriately as do most of the trained journalistic dogs and monkeys that reside inside the Beltway. It is also possible that Brooks does have a drug habit or some other unpleasant secret that he knows his masters know about so he very responsive to their vibes. That is a common thing in Washington. If someone wanders of the reservation to fear their dirty little secret , be it drugs, pedophile sex, kiddy porn or heavy BDSM will be leaked to someone with a nod from the right places that it is OK to break the story. Washington is a very incestuous place and there are a lot of folks living the materially good life who know they are wholly bought and paid for by some someones.
Newsweak is still in business?
The lesson here is : “ Beware the neo-con”
Neo-Cons embraced conservatism in the interest of realizing the utopian ideologies their neo-marxist friends failed to do via the democratic party and other would-be socialist organizations.
Guys like Brooks have used Conservatism as long as they could, and have now returned to their respective reservations.
At the heart of the issue is the recently oh-so- hip, artificial duality created amongst pseudo-intellectuals (mostly moderates) between social and Fiscal conservatism. The delineation of these two faux-branches of conservatism are — by virtue of their anathematized relationship— has served only to marginalize conservatism: To latch onto the notion of social liberal/fiscal conservative is to humor the moot points made by those who actually think that they’ve stumbled on an enlightened idea, when really their whole reconciliation of seemingly opposed ideas is based on little more than a pack of straw dogs.
The Times keeps Brooks on a short leash. Joe Scarborough is another conservative sellout who knows how to sing for his supper on MSNBC
The real incivility began with the scumbag dhims after the ‘94 election, when they decided to salt the earth, and the same thing will happen in ‘12 when it becomes obvious the comrade zero will go the way of jimmah, and dingy harry will realize that his only option is to nuke the senate, and try to blame the tea party and pubbies.
