And how many kids in Africa could be saved for the same cost? I think it is a dangerous precedent to start bailing out the sad stories from developed countries’ versions of Obamacare. Demand would outpace supply in a hurry.

You seem to be saying lets throw out one child because there are other children that need help....that is a shameful reply. Hope no one ever wants to throw away the life of one you love because there are others in need....GG

I don’t understand what you mean. What if we can only save one person?

What you just said is the logic that Obamacare uses. That is why they want death panels, don't “waste” money on “hopeless” people.

We see the same thing over and over again where one critical patient or one missing person garners all the media attention, while thousands more in similar life threatening circumstances get no media attention.

And you are right in that Baby Joseph's life is no more important than w baby in Africa, India or South America.

However, if the family can find a hospital that will treat Joseph and they are able to cover the medical expenses, I see no reason why he should not receive the treatment his family desires.

These are private orgs trying to help, from what I understand. If they want to spend money on them God bless them, literally. This is not some overfunded, gubmint social program that is using American $$$ to help foreigners. Plus, I would love to see American docs actually save the little guy. Not only because I want him to live, but as a side benefit to show what socialized medicine is.

What better way than to publicize the horror of any version of Obamacare than to save this child?
