Obama: No Arming of U.S. Agents in Mexico

President Obama on Thursday appeared to reject the idea of arming U.S. agents in Mexico, saying after a meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderon that the two governments will look at other ways to protect American officials in the wake of a fatal shooting last month.

"There are laws in place in Mexico that say that our agents should not be armed," Obama said, describing the U.S. role south of the border as an "advisory" one. "We do not carry out law enforcement activities inside of Mexico."

The president's statement answers speculation about how far the administration would go in reforming safety measures in response to the killing three weeks ago of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jaime Zapata in Mexico. The shooting death raised questions in the U.S. about Mexico's ability to control violence but U.S. officials earlier wouldn't say whether Obama would press the Mexican leader to allow U.S. agents to be armed.

Coming out of the meeting Thursday afternoon, both presidents stressed that U.S. agents cannot be armed. Obama said he was nevertheless concerned about the safety of agents and that they would examine "procedures and protocols" for how to better protect them.

“Why should we be armed in Mexico? We should not be there in the first place. Advisors my azz.
We should be armed to shoot when ILLEGALS cross our borders after warnings. That would stop this.”

You’re right . . . I do kinda’ wonder what we’re doing over the border, when these bastards are on our side with impunity.

I just get sick of hearing that we’re firing beanbags at these reprobates instead of lead . . . and this goofus in our White House sits back and watches our authorities get murdered, beheaded, and assassinationed and does NOTHING . . . NOTHING!

Well basically then I think we should all have illegal alien defense mechanisms/personal protection devices (PPD’s) in our homes and defend ourselves since our POTUS will not.

I suspect there will be a vast difference between what “The One” orders, and what our agents actually do. God help them, I doubt if there is a more dangerous war going on anywhere in the world.

"There are laws in place in Mexico that say that our agents should not be armed,"

So what! There are laws in place in the United States that says 35 million Mexican Nationals should not be living, working and committing crimes here. Nobody pays any attention to them!

Well, wouldn’t Bush do the same thing? He opened the borders. Even Ciinton took his oath to protect our sovereignty more seriously than Bush.

All agents who work on the border should resign or retire en masse... Might have an effect or at the very least bring the problem to the attention of society. Something has to be done - and if this is what it takes, it will be a good thing...

We need to send an overwhelming military force about 20 miles into the North of Mexico, all the way across the border. Totally empty the area of people, build heavy barriers to entry, deploy mines/razor wire(everything we have antipersonnel), and turn it into a ‘demilitarized zone’ of sorts. No man shall be within that area, and expect to live for any length of time, coming or going.

If anyone wants to travel between the US and Mexico, they will either need to fly, or go by sea. In either case, each transport will be subject to vigorous inspection by the US.

That’s how bad Mexico is right now. To allow a porous, free and open border with such a state is national suicide. The violence WILL spread here on a larger scale if we just sit here and DO NOTHING! We need to ‘amputate it’ from us, as best as we can.

I think Obama should go to Mexico without an armed security team, just for fun. Let’s see what happens.

I hate liberal socialists ruining this great country.

No balls Obama.

Let’s just forget we also have this putz who won’t enforce our own laws against Mexicans who have utter contempt for our laws.

I really hate Obama and all the democrats and all the liberals. Really do. I hate them because they hate us and are actively destroying the best country in the world and we’re paying them to do it.

Agents should simply refuse to go. Period.

This is beyond insanity.

Apparently little bammy is going to have to strip naked, put on cowboy boots and hop-skip up and down Pennsylvania Av. pretending to ride his broomstick pony before they are gonna pop a straightjacket on him.

The President is NUTS and this Republic might not last through two years of spiraling into total passive-aggressive lunacy. He needs to be psycho-evaluated by a sane (not lib/dem/progressive) psychoanalyst and PRONTO.

TLI, you paint such a vivid picture, I almost can envision it - I CAN envision it, in fact.

Only because it has the ring of truth in it.

I figured (and commented prior to the election) the pressure of losing total control would push him right to the edge of whatever he calls sanity. Here and in several other instances we see that reality is slipping away from him.

And now the BS in the middle east and nut boy has his finger on the button?

Actually, in the context of the issues of the middle east I think he can send such convoluted and mixed signals that he will cause them to strike the match.

I gotta go out and do a few miles, get some air. Nut boy will, without a doubt, still be around tomorrow.
