Maybe we should prepare for the possibility that the Middle East might someday descend into chaos Too late, someday has arrived.
How about this nightmare scenario? Cairo-style riots in Riyadh. Few pundits think its impossible now, and many talking heads of the intelligensia actually think the prospect of an Arabia sans the House of Saud is all but inevitable. Good riddance of course, but as with other Muslim Nations that are currently in flux: who or what will replace the sweet angels of the Saudi Fiefdom?

Don’t hold your breath on this but if it DOES happen it will mean complete domination of the middle east by Iran.
America has oil. America has energy of all types to last a couple hundred years.
It’s just on the other side of that No Trespassing sign put up by the Federal Government.
Spottswoode: From what I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.N.C.E has gathered, it would be 9/11 times 100.
Gary Johnston: 9/11 times a hundred? Jesus, that’s...
Spottswoode: Yes, 91,100.
Chris: Basically, all the worst parts of the bible.
Wonder how Gens x and y will fare without their devices, games, phones, ipods etc.
It’s in the Bible:
“My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke”
Proverbs 3:11
Probably as well as you will, nobody will be able to read your posts.
Gen Xers ain’t as hooked in as you think they are. Gen Y and Z are born with implants. Gen Xs grew up with PARENTS that had cell phones, not them. Gen Ys and beyond are the kids that grew up with cell phones.
Just like a bunch of Arabs removing one dictator and getting a different one who promises a better deal for different factions.
It's the same everywhere.
This is going to really surprise the EPA crowd as the FBI is turned against them.
Wonder how Gens x and y will fare without their devices, games, phones, ipods etc.
We will teach them how to make fish hooks out of old safety pins.

Wonder what baby boomers will do without all their fancy medical equipment that takes energy to produce and keep running? Hope they can adjust when their rascal scooters are repossessed.
I think the Saudi royals are MUCH better at control and organization than was Libya’s dictator; and they have spread the benefits of their national revenues around more and more deeply than was done in either Egypt or Libya; so I’m betting, for now, on them; while admitting I’m no expert and could be wrong.
Many GenX-ers will do just fine.
Very few disruptive things announced in advance happen as planned. Could be nothing, could be wildly unpredictable.
America without oil might mean America returns to coal. And any EPA puke or environut who tries to stop it will likely dance on top of all that free wind energy. (Plenty of rope, plenty of trees.)
The bigger question is what becomes of the Middle East from all this tumult.
I suspect at least one or two Arab nations will avoid the sharia curse and turn democratic. I’m hoping, anyway. I think Bush was right about the effect of planting the democracy seed in the Middle East. Now we’ll see if his idea pans out.
And if not — if wild-eyed Islam prevails — then we should probably seal off the Middle East, nobody in or out, and let them implode without our help.

I am a 63 year old grandma, baby boomer.
Last year, I layed out a double layer of railroad ties for a 10X40 raised garden. Just me and my tractor.
I figured out how to get my post hole digger assembled, off the ground, and onto a rack, just me and my tractor. Ask a farmer he’ll fill you in.
We got our little house built last year. I painted the whole thing, inside and out by myself.
Last week I ground 16 cups of whole wheat flour on my hand crank mill, by myself.
In the fall, I planted 5 new fruit trees by myself.
All my garden seeds are sprouting in their starter trays.
I do the maintenance on my tractor myself. I’ve only had it three years, but I’m learning!
My hobby is shooting rattlesnakes. I pride myself in taking their head off with the first shot (snubnose .38).
I cut most of my own fire wood. When we had sub-zero weather, I kept the stove going all night and didn’t use any propane.
Last time I went to the doctor was after I fell off the ladder and crushed my thumb.
I think maybe one of those scooters would slow me down.
“....the prospect of an Arabia sans the House of Saud is all but inevitable.”
.
But before that happens, all hell will break loose. Those 3000 “royal princes” will not go away without putting up a fight. Then there is the question where they and the king will get asylum.
When the dust clears, Saudi will end up in the Shia camp because all their oil is in the Eastern Province which is mainly populated by the Shia.
then we should probably seal off the Middle East, nobody in or out, and let them implode without our help.
So how did it feel to have your entire generation generalized?
Tell your cohort to shove it.
