A possible Republican presidential candidate suggested in a radio interview that President Barack Obama's childhood in Kenya shaped his world-view even though Mr Obama did not visit Kenya until he was in his 20s.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee told a New York radio station on Monday that Mr Obama's youth led him to resent the West, which he said explains why Mr Obama's foreign policy differs so greatly from that of his predecessors.
"One thing that I do know is his having grown up in Kenya, his view of the Brits, for example, (is) very different than the average American," Mr Huckabee said, pointing to Mr Obama's decision in 2009 to return a bust of former Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

In a radio interview, potential GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said Barack Obama grew up in Kenya with his father and grandfather. A spokesman for the former Arkansas governor says he made a simple mistake
Stepped in it ....Ping!
When was Huck a “leading Republican”?
Easy for him to claim that even though Obummer grew up there doesn’t mean that he was ‘born’ there!
And, from the other side of his mouth:
Mike Huckabee full of love for President Barack Obama

Mike Huckabee is going against the grain of conservative pundits and potential 2012 rivals who are merciless in attacking the Obamas, taking a softer tack as he defends the first couple on issues like healthy eating and the presidents citizenship.
While conservative talk radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh trashed First Lady Michelle Obamas healthy-eating initiative one of her few forays into public policy as an effort to have a government-run food program, Huckabee went the other way.
I do not think she’s out there advocating that the government take over our dinner plates, Huckabee, whos been open about his own battles with weight and diabetes, said last week. In fact, she’s not. She’s been criticized unfairly by a lot of my fellow conservatives.
On the so-called birther issue, Huckabee described doubts over the presidents citizenship as an obsession and a waste of time.
And he yoked debate over the presidents religion at conservative fringes to the attacks Obama faced in 2008 regarding his flame-throwing former pastor, Jeremiah Wright.
If people went back and heard every sermon I heard when I was a little kid and some of the more fundamentalist pastors were yelling from the pulpit at me, if they took every one of those sermons and lifted out of them certain phrases and things, it could be scandalous, but only out of the context of the bigger picture, he told Christianity Today.
Huckabee has also said the Obamas provide a model of a good family, and has lauded the president as a loving father and husband.

In what sense is Huck a “leading Republican” (except in polls for possible GOP presidential candidates). This looks almost like an attempt to tar the whole GOP as stupid, when it’s more like a herd of independent cats that don’t regiment themselves about what to think.
It’s funny to watch this because Huck is one of the ‘Media’s picks’.
Exactly. Bet it won’t get much play at all.
It's kind of hard to factor out 20 years of "God damn America" (for sins forsaken way in the past, if reason is given at all). This can't be compared to some of the fierier Baptists hollering about how lipstick can send women to hell.
Yhe problem with Huck is that he is not being honest.
He runs an unnatural interference for Obama when he should be slamming him.
You know, like a real leader would do—Sarah Palin.
One President from Arkansas was one too many.
Of course he didn’t grow up in Kenya. He grew up in States #51 to #57 because his dad was naturally nomadic after serving in Europe in WW II right up until Japan dropped the bomb on Pearl Harbor. A little “misspeaking” never hurt anybody, especially if you have the suck-up press in our corner.
i’ve never seen anyone protected by the media as much as Obama is.
Ah well, Huck wasn’t really on my short list anyway.
I’m shocked .... LOL
All of the above...
By golly, I think you’re right!
0bama, in his 20’s, was a Child; and continues to be a Child to this day
