Cirrus Industries Inc., parent company of Cirrus Aircraft, has been sold to China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Co. (CAIGA) of Zhuhai, China, but it appears the company will continue to build parts in Grand Forks, N.D., and assemble airplanes in Duluth, Minn. It has long been rumored that a Chinese company would acquire Cirrus and the final announcement was made Monday morning. CAIGA is a subsidiary of Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC), the state-owned aviation company of China that makes everything from military jets to airliners. In a news release, Cirrus CEO Brent Wouters says the deal will be a shot in the arm for the company and for its employees in Grand Forks and Duluth. "CAIGA understands the strength and the talent of Cirrus's workforce and the prominence of the Cirrus brand in general aviation," Wouters said. "Through this transaction, CAIGA will invest in our employees in both Minnesota and North Dakota by committing to the continued use of our world-class production facilities." Although it was not specifically mentioned in the news release, the transaction could result in an immediate acceleration of Cirrus's long-awaited Vision jet program. The single-engine jet project has stalled in recent years due to a lack of funding but Wouters has maintained throughout that an injection of investment capital would revive the jet. For its part, CAIGA says its focusing on the piston market with Cirrus. "We are very optimistic to begin our partnership with Cirrus and add Cirrus's strong brand as the cornerstone in our aviation product portfolio," said CAIGA President Meng Xiangkai. Cirrus was founded by Alan and Dale Klapmeier about 12 years ago and Dale Klapmeier is the current chairman. He said he was "thrilled" to make the announcement.

I too am so thrilled. Imagine, a good friend and fellow freedom loving country like China, doing the citizens of North Dakota the “solid” of buying their technology. They will learn so much from us. How to build a plane, how to design the plane, how to move the plant to China.

Donald Trump was on a tear over these issues on Rush today. He layed into how bad the Boeing deal was because they are just going to steal the tech and build all the future planes in China. I guess the regime is to busy planning the next mega bash for the Chi Coms to bother with trivial matters such as losing tech companies to them.

First it was Teledyne Continental and their Aircraft Engines. Bought for a song, so they could get development money for an Aviation Diesel which they think is the future. I have a Diesel gnome who is a pilot etc and he and I disagree. The new fuel isn't Diesel for aircraft and that is all I'll say.

Now Cirrus.

I guess it is a Lycoming Powered Homebuilt or an Ultralight....

Saw this yesterday. What a waste of a company. The owners will make millions and the industry will have another cheap chinese knockoff for an airplane...that no one will ever want to fly.

Cessna makes their new Skycatcher 162 in China. No way, no how will I ever fly one of those and they look tempting.

Yeah, but we’re sure teaching Cuba a lesson. Some Commies are more equal than others, I guess.

The aviation industry in this country is heading for the crapper if this keeps up. Next thing will be our airlines hiring Chinese Pilots because Americans will nto be able to cough up the money to pay for the new 1500 hour FAA requirement to become a first officer. Sad

Would you want to fly in plastic airplane made in China? You’ll be able to find it in the Aviation Department at Dollar General.

Tort reform in aviation is just as overdue as it is in medicine. Liability costs have made the manufacture of new light aircraft ruinously expensive.

This isn’t simple greed on the part of short-sighted businessmen or the savvy of the Chinese. This is part of a deliberate plan to transfer our entire manufacturing and industrial capacity over to Red China. When our economy crashes into oblivion the people will be begging to hand over whats left of our wealth, our currency, our sovereignty, and our Constitutional Rights over to the Banksters and their One World Government.

Yep.

This nation is slowly losing anyway to make much of anything of value.
And when the dust of an economic collapse settles, there won’t be any jobs left.
Only the government unions and their thugs.
The average worker will be out in the cold, with worthless dollars in their hands,
unable to feed their families, or keep warm.

This nation will be conquered by an economic catastrophe, with no way to save itself.

Lord have mercy.

Continental is the OEM engine supplier for Cirrus. A pattern begins to emerge.

Yes it is...

I can't help but wonder if at somepoint they will make everything over their because the EPA is such a pain in the @$$ when it comes to manufacturing, all the chemicals used and or plating/coating procedures. The Chinese don't give a flying crap and 20 years from now will be a polluted outhouse.

Talk is "un-cert-ed" ( uncertified tubing ) i.e. no spec sheets of what elements were used to make the alloys i..e. 4130 chrome moly tubing and no stamps is coming out of China.

I hear one vendor still has some American Stuff, don't know if it is still being made here.

Just what you want for your Homebuilt Pitts Special Fuselage or Roll Cage on your Top Fuel Dragster... ( Sarc/ off...)

With that said, what quality will the airframes be from Cirrus.

Well, the Chinese did such a wonderful job with sheetrock, copper pipes and dog food, think of what they can do with a Cirrus!

Oy!
