The first thing I thought of seeing the headline was “I guess General Ripper was right about his precious bodily fluids and purity of essence!”

Not sure about this. All I know is it is another US government agency which may be trying to attain parity with the World’s toothless masses.

She replied that babies can't spit out toothpaste after brushing, they swallow it, so they make a special toothpaste without Floride!

To be truthful, it's the pumice (the polishing agent) in toothpaste that is missing from baby's toothpaste. Ingestion of pumice is more deleterious than ingestion of the trace amount of fluoride.

But why did they never come up with an extra sharp cheddar cheese toothpaste?! ;-)

Ever been to Green Bay...???

Thank you. You could buy those three essential oils separately for less I think. But you would have to figure out the proportions yourself. Might not be too hard to do. You could just compare the taste until you got close.

A friend suggested that I use water with some Tea Tree Oil in it instead of Listerine or the like for a mouthwash. She said to put 4 or 5 drops in a liter of water and I put in 6. I can certainly taste it. Haven't used it long enough to say whether it works or not.

“using herbal drops”

What kind of herbal drops? I’ve been looking for a good alternative to flouride toothpaste.

I guess it only works with cheese because I think cheese crackers before bed is one of my problems. LOL

“And the opposition was from the John Birch Society and Little Old Ladies in Tennis Shoes, which is why it was a laugh line in ‘Dr. Strangelove’.”

It interferes with the thyroid gland, which controls metabolism and host of other functions.

There are some studies that show that fluoride inhibits testosterone in males, also.

i remember when my 17 year old was an infant and his pediatrician found out that we had well water and he gave us a prescription for floride drops for the baby. i went so far as to fill the script. When I was almost ready to give the baby the floride i stopped and thought about what this might do to him. did i trust the government? did i trust that five years down the road they wouldn’t say “oops, its poison.” i threw it away and never used it. glad now that i thought for myself.

You’re welcome — I hope you find something that helps.

I have one friend who uses the real stuff for brushing/mouthwash, then the fake ones she concocted for breath mints/drops.... I’ve seen various recipes online too.

There are just so many different, hundreds of variations of those oils, as long as I have a job, I’m sticking with the regular stuff. Don’t want my teeth regressing.... Oh, and I’ve already cut down from having to go 3-4x a year for cleanings to just the 2, so that alone saves money.

I was having some crown work done a couple of weeks ago (old mercury fillings had to be replaced), and they would not stop ranting about my gums and healthy mouth and how, if I keep it up, I won’t have to see them much anymore. And this is one of the top 10 dentists in Tucson that I go to. And the other 9 people are scattered all around and don’t see the same dentist.

I always have Tea Tree Oil around too, for various things, good stuff too!

I believe it is Dr. Mercola who has written some recent articles on fluoride - after the EPA announced this a month or so ago.

Rinsing after brushing isn’t going to remove the residue of the toothpaste so it is staying on your teeth contrary to what we believe. Rinsing your mouth out with peroxide/water will remove any residue left on the teeth that isn’t removed by just rinsing with water after brushing. A lot of damage has been done to children’s teeth with the flouride in toothpaste...

I’m one who fought the flouridation of city water supplies beginning in the ‘70’s and believed in the danger of such an application. Didn’t think I’d see the day when the government would admit to being wrong!!!

“Mandrake...I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.”

Great line..great movie.

“found dental fluorosis – caused by too much fluoride – capable of ... discoloration”

Oh FGS - this is why it came to the attention of the discovering dentist in the 1st place. The irony of people with bad-colored teeth nonetheless having stronger teeth.

Maybe if it’s too much, they should stop the nonsense of saying we should brush twice a day, etc.

I had bad hygiene as a youth. I didn’t get a single cavity until I was 26 - after I started brushing more regularly. I DID always have the advantage of flouridated water.
