A Guilty Plea in SEIU Initiative Signature-Forging Case But the Left Turns Embarrassment to its Advantage in the Legislature
OLYMPIA, Feb. 26.Union officials and left-wing activist groups are saying that an embarrassing signature fraud case involving the Service Employees International Union last summer is a terrific reason to regulate everyone else.
Theyre pushing a bill that would impose tight new restrictions on signature-gathering companies. Its the same basic idea theyve been backing for years, and its looking like it is picking up support in the Democrat-controlled Legislature.
But heres the funny thing about it. Not only is the SEIU case the only time in recent years that any campaign has turned in fraudulent signatures to the state the bill that SEIU is backing wouldnt apply to labor unions.

Why do we need this law in WA where the unions decide what the legislature can enforce anyway?

Sounds like Bernie Madoff claiming to be a victim because they didn’t check up on him enough. IQ 75 and up should be able to get a chuckle out of that.

This is a set up for a magnificent riposte from the Republicans to “clean your own signature fraud house first SEIU.”

Trying to get rid of initiatives again.

Isn’t that a lot like saying, “so the neighborhood goon killed a kid; let’s put the whole town on trial”?

These a$$holes only "honored" the last tax raising initiative for TWO years because....well, I don't remember why they didn't respect what the voters wanted. So they had another initiative to make sure the legislature "got it". I don't like the initiative process in some ways, because someday the union thugs will get something on the ballot that I hate. For the most part, though, the voters speak DIRECTLY through the initiative process. And thankfully they voted down the stupid Bill Gates sr. "soak the rich" tax increase. Funny how democrats FIGHT direct democracy, where the people rule.

The legislature and their union bosses don't like initiatives and want to end them. It is pure and simply a way of trying to make initiatives harder to pass.
