Oh, thank you. That’s very intriguing! But I don’t want to bother a fellow Freeper every time I have a question about the origin of something, which is very, very frequently... Is there a website that’ll help us decipher SKUs? I just looked on Google and nothing came up right away. Or these “inventory companies” you mention... Can you name a few of them? Maybe I can look up there webpages and find something there. Thank you VERY MUCH! A new lead on an old problem. I love it!

SKU is an acronym for “stock keeping unit.” It’s an item number more or less, and would vary from one company to the next. If there’s any consistency to be found, it would be with the original importing and distribution entity in the United States for the purportedly tainted product. You’d want their item number or SKU.

Again, though, it’d change depending upon just who purchased it and how it was prepared and packaged for sale. It could be in anything from chicken and rice soup to frozen dinners. Difficult to track, in other words, unless there were to be a broad inquiry as there was with melamine contaminated dog food.

I worked with Western Inventory Services, and then later on ran an inventory database for a small store.

I have some of my homebrew stuff. I would frequently get product requests and part of my responsibility was to satisfy customers.

It’s not really in the interest of the shopkeepers or the inventory services to divulge these to customers so you won’t find this on their website.

PM me a list and I’ll return it to you tomorrow. It doesn’t take me very long.
