How's it go? "Roark jumps on soapbox again and runs on woodenly for days ... Well, I'll be, Roark jumps on a soapbox again and runs on woodenly for days?"

Don't get me wrong, reading Rand was transformational for me as well and I regard myself as something of a small-L libertarian, but all the elevation of her writing blows my mind. She wasn't among the great authors. Her sphere was in communicating ideology.

I greatly prefer her earlier work, which was rather unapologetically more of a, what, manifesto? Primarily Anthem and We The Living.

Roark was “The Fountainhead”, not “Atlas Shrugged”. I only know for sure because I’m reading that right now. OMG, she really has a thing for beating dead horses.
