He’s totally wrong. The reason the “tea party” candidates lost in some races was due to personality rather than ideology. You run someone just as conservative as Sharron Angle who has a more organized campaign and isn’t prone to gaffes such as walking into a group of hispanics and saying “You all look Asian to me” and they would have easily defeated Reid. Other candidates made similar errors.
That's what the main goal of running Tea Party candidates were. Get the RINOs out, and if the Rat wins, so be it, but at least people can see the difference.
Also Bennett completely ignores the Governorships, state legislatures, and House candidates that Tea Party candidates were victorious in. Typical clueless establishment Republican who just doesn't get it.
Excellent point. Every revolution produces its share of principled but inexperienced revolutionaries. If Sharron Angle ran again, ideally at lower level, she’d be more experienced, more organized, and less prone to gaffes. She’d presumably be better at sticking to a script and a schedule. She’d be a winner.
The GOP did virtually nothing to help the campaigns of Sharon Angle in Nevada, Joe Miller in Alaska, Christine McDonnell in Delaware, etc.
The Republican voters elected these TEA Party individuals during the primary process, and then the RINO’s in charge of the GOP pouted because these candidates were “too conservative.”
The RINO establishment withheld support and financial aid to these candidates, and then complained when these candidates lost to the democrats. The RINO establishment needs to go.
