“Kids can’t vote.”
Not YET, they can’t.
But kids get older, of course.
And, eventually, they WILL be able to vote.
It doesn’t matter that “illegals can’t vote”. It doesn’t matter one whit. Nor does it matter if they EVER become naturalized or “amnesty’ed”.
What DOES matter is the fact that illegals are churning out throngs of brand new “citizens”, who within 20 years WILL have the power to vote and to change the political and cultural climate.
The almost unmentionable truth is that illegals will “self-naturalize” by a kind of default, through their offspring, which they have by the basketfuls (or, should I say, bassinet-fulls).
We are reaching the point where it makes no difference if we NEVER have an amnesty. It won’t matter. It’s simply too late.
The ONLY things that can prevent the coming demographic disaster (and the cultural and political disasters that accompany that tsunmai) would be:
- A forced removal of illegals from our soil
- The stripping of citizenship from the children of all illegals by Constitutional amendment (which would probably be impossible due to the Constitutional ban on ex-post-facto laws)
NEITHER of the above is ever going to happen.
Where does that leave us?
The problem here is that very important interests in both of our major political parties want illegal immigrants to be here. There is a difference between the parties - the Democrats want them to be able to vote, but not to work here and the Republicans want them to be able to work here, but not to vote. If either party wanted to be rid of illegal aliens, there would be no proposals for border fences, etc., but there would be much stronger and certain sanctions against employers for hiring them. The reason that no government, including the government of Arizona, is taking action in the workplace is because no government, including the government of Arizona, really wants to curb illegal immigration. Too many major industries benefit from the cheap labor.
You're right about these kids growing up and voting. And, you're right about them probably voting differently than we vote. We can't control the future and we may not even have much of a right to try.
We could do a better job now, though.
