Guess there is going to be more to this storm than I thought.
Yep - Northern Calif has been getting a real pounding but we need every drop and snowflake we can collect. The Sierras are still getting hit, with wind warnings for winds over 90 MPH at times. More to come too, the way the forecasts read here.
See Wunderground.com for great weather info!!!
Does this mean we won’t get snow? Well, Not only do I have this to deal with I have a chicken and two cats living together under my shed in the side yard. Do chickens like snow.
Apparently so. We are starting to get the lead sprinkles of the rain now here in Western Riverside County, and the breezes are increasing. Cloud cover is thick now where it was quite broken up just an hour ago.
Chickens can adapt,...cats might complain.
Raining off and on here on the Westside as well. They said parts of the San Fernando Valley could get snow, how awesome would that be!
Bring it on .. Shovel ready!
Unfortunately, snow in the San Fernando Valley does not look as likely now that the cold front is forecast to move through the area faster than anticipated. Most of the cold air will arrive too late when much of the moisture is already well east of the area. You never know, though!
AFAIK, the snowline in northern California is still expected to drop to 100 feet. This isn’t a Pineapple Express. It’s coming down from Alaska.
DANG!!! You guys get all the good weather and all we get is light rain and some snow. Our weather guy said that the cold front coming down the coast was tying into a moist stream our of the Pacific and this one is hitting you instead of the north coast...
It's all the puffy stuff of the coast.. lots of instability lays ahead
Enjoy it if ya can!
an arctic blast.. I can’t wait to run the dogs in it.
I grew up with the cold stuff...staying away from it in my later years and it is coming after me.

Extremely rare opportunities for snow will continue for San Francisco and Sacramento into tonight, then even down into some valleys around Los Angeles Saturday.
The last time it snowed in downtown San Francisco was 1976.
As AccuWeather.com Western Expert Ken Clark has been stressing, this storm is a "big deal" for California.
Major disruptions to travel through passes, including all those leading into and out of the L.A. Basin, are expected with this unusually cold storm. The snow will be coming just before the Oscars kick off Sunday.
Travel-snarling snow will not be limited to just California, with parts of Arizona, Nevada and states farther east set to get blasted this weekend as well. Snow could even fall at the Accenture Match Play Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Marana, Ariz., this weekend.
More details on how the storm will impact these southwestern states are provided in this news story.
I fled FResno County to come to Eureka in 1954 to escape the oppressive heat which I did but the tradeoff was I had to acquire Web Feet to navigate the mud here...
Web feet....do you have to use the garden hose to clean them off before you go inside?
Have you still got that old dog sled Norm?
