How naive of them to sail into pirate infested waters without a boatload of firearms. What did these people think, that Jesus would save them? Unbelievable!
Jesus has saved me.
The pirates are now using captured clandestine mother ships to roam over 1,500 miles from Somalia. The sailboat was taken over 1,000 miles away. It’s the Red Sea or the Cape of Good Hope, so it’s a big risk either way if you plan to go around.

I know you will probably not understand this but, Jesus did save them. Our lives are (relatively speaking) not of great value, it is our souls that truly matter. These good Christian’s souls are with our Lord Jesus Christ tonight. Indeed, they are the lucky ones...
My aunt and uncle, good Republicans, living in Gettysburg during the Eisenhower years were so proud of their brand new well stocked bomb shelter. They showed us the food, the medical kit, the tools, the water. We asked, where is your gun? They said, gun? What gun? We laughed and said, well, if it comes to that we will drive the hundred miles with ours and protect you and your food and help you eat it.
Ummm .... Jesus already did save them ... he saved their souls, and yours and mine, on a cross 2,000 years ago. Your casual words actually speak sacred truth.
It was presumably because they didn't fear death that they chose, unwisely, the route they chose.
I heard that they were sailing with a larger group yet broke away.
I wouldn't be so quick to judge that they were stupid or idiotic to have done what they did. Perhaps they willingly entered a risky zone. I also expect that the reason they were shot is because they were witnessing to the Muslim Somali pirates. One of the hotheads probably screamed "Allahu Akbar" and shot them in rage. I expect we'll know the true story soon enough.
