lj: Did John Locke think prostitution, pornography, drugs and public displays of homosexual behavior should be legal?

tl:

What would be the consequences if he did, or didn't?

What the heck kind of question is that? What difference does it make? It's all just speculation and might have been's and has nothing to do with what is actually going on. Nonsense like that is a total time waster.

Incest, pedophilia, and bestiality have no place in a civilized society. Get help for your sickness.

We can be sure of one thing from Harry’s declaration ... he’s aged beyond his sex drive and no longer wants the secret strange when in Vegas. Or maybe he’s decided to suddenly pay heed to his religion’s moral codes at this late hour in his miserable life? Scum he is

It is all kickbacks. Business in Clark County could care less what they do in those under 150,000. Harry playing to the religion lobby. Phhhhtttt.

The main problem with these libertarian notions is that children and other innocent people always wind up getting hurt.

Nonsense. They call it the world's oldest profession for a reason. Legal brothels in Nevada are far, far safer places than their illicit counterparts, both for the women that work there and their customers.

Few things are as pointless and counterproductive as are laws against prostitution. Sure... it's something that disgusts us all. It's vulgar and ugly. But banning it through the law is ignorant and vain, and ultimately more damaging than the problem we were trying to solve.

The only reason people support the legalization of garbage like this is because they want to avail themselves of it.

That goes for any of it.

And that has been demonstrated here on this very thread.

And so why do folks always seem to focus on only physical harm? There are far more ways of hurting people than just damaging their bodies.

But that seems unimportant to libertarians who want unbridled license to do whatever pleases them. That way they can justify their infantile demands.

*Well, it doesn’t really HURT anyone*, which is all strictly their opinion anyway and denial on their part.

Yes, it does. It destroys the family and it breaks down society.

Reading this curdled my blood. Not because I'm an innocent but because I can clearly see that God's judgment is falling on America.

If anyone believes that what we are experiencing and witnessing in America, right now, is not connected to the evil we've allowed, they are intellectually stunted.

You see that poster's opinions? And see how he was unashamed to type it all out, clearly and boldly to littlejeremiah? And he represents only a microcosim of the population. And the subject matter is only the tip of the iceberg in our nation. We have ongoing butchering of babies, both in and out of the womb, homosexuality on display, pedophilia, not to mention the old stand bys of: murder, rape, robbery, greed, lust, and corruption.

Our nation is literally a cesspool. I don't see how we are ever going to get a handle on it because we are absolutely morally bankrupt. Moral issues cannot be ignored without consequence and we are seeing those consequences.

Anyone fine with legalizing incest and bestiality should not priss around with drawing the line at necrophilia!

What a sicko.

Who in the hell is Armordog99 and what made him think that the line of thinking he was using is normal? I hope he loses his computer privileges in the prison he is writing from.

I completely agree. Prostitution is harmful to people in very many ways, spiritual and emotional and otherwise. Those are all good reasons not to engage in prostitution, either as buyer or seller.

What they *aren’t* are reasons to ~pretend~ to deal with it by making it illegal. Making it illegal just makes the problem worse and harder to deal with by driving it underground. It’s the usual “lip-service”: Make a law and pretend like the problem is gone. Lawmakers feel good because they’re “doing something” when in fact they’ve done nothing at all. The prostitution still happens, only now it’s beyond the reach of anyone to manage.

Exactly so. Or wanting to allow the more egregious kinds of vice makes them feel better about their own vice since it doesn’t look so bad in comparison.

So, what do you think? Do you think that prostitution should be legalized or remain illegal?

That is what this thread is about, you know. Not some red herring you’re throwing out there.

I agree 100%. I didn’t like even typing what I wrote, but I wanted to draw him out - yes, revealing my strategies - so that he would clarify himself. Usually liberaltarians like to hide their real point of view and leave the discussion when people try to find out what they’re up to without dissimulation.

But he clarified himself. It was nasty.

And I agree that moral bankruptcy of the very worst sort is now on full display in not just our country, but in most countries. And the reaction is coming, just as sure and certain as day follows night, and then night follows day. What goes up must come down.

I’d say stock up on what you need, pray, get right with God, and keep your eyes and ears open. Advice to everyone. What is it they say on planes? Seats in the upright position, fasten your seat belt snugly around your waist, trays in an upright and locked position.

Yes, I made that comment on the previous page. Families are destroyed, and then society is destroyed, anarchy ensues, then robber barons.
