Scott Brown: I'm not part of the tea party

Though his win last year was heralded as an early victory for the tea party, Sen. Scott Brown said Tuesday that he doesn’t think of himself as part of the movement.

“I’m a Republican, period,” the Massachusetts senator said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “I have respect for the tea party. I’m a fiscal conservative – I always have been. When you talk about national security, I’m a hawk, probably more than anybody that I know in Massachusetts."

Unfortunately, a GOPer like Brown is the closest to “conservative” we`ll see from MA. True, he`ll be gone after 2012... I bet MA will look to return itself completely to the dem fold and elect a hard-core lefty like Deval Patrick. Brown will be a distant memory.

We know that, Senator Brown.

It’ll be interesting to see how well he does without its support next election.

Will the moderates and independents be out there pounding the pavement and manning the phones for him? How far will GOProud’s endorsement carry him?

We’ll see.

[“I’m a Republican, period,”]

Does that mean a few days a month we can expect you to act cranky and bitchy?

The problem with Scott is that so many Tea Partiers read into him more than there was there. I recall all the folks here who wanted him to run for President, it was pathetic really. This guy has not surprised me one bit. Dissapointed perhaps, but not surprised.
