WASHINGTON, (AP) -- The top Democrat in the Senate said Tuesday that he'll bring legislation to the floor next week to keep the government running at current spending levels for 30 days to avoid a shutdown in March.
The move by Majority Leader Harry Reid is in keeping with longstanding tradition, but it was immediately rejected by GOP leaders who assailed the Nevada Democrat for freezing spending at levels inflated by generous budget increases provided under President Barack Obama.

Shut ‘er down. The only question I have is: Will I even notice?
Middle East, Wisconsin and other things going on , shut it down and see no one cares.
SHUT IT DOWN!
WE WILL NOT NOTICE!
HARRY IS AFRAID OF IT!
Keeping spending at “current levels” is the whole problem...Democrats have put in place spending levels that have taken us to the poorhouse, and they want Republicans to agree to keep us there.....NO....shut it down and LOUDLY tell America that the Democrats refuse to cut spending, and are FORCING THE SHUTDOWN.
Shut it down. START OVER, new people. Pick the new ones from the phone book.
No matter what happens, the 2 dollar whores in the media will blame the pubbies. I wonder if dingy harry’s new prostitution ban covers them, too?
The time for compromising with leftist, socialist, liberal, union thugs, is OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So it looks like Harry Reid wants to shutdown the government. Oh well.
Intersting, haven’t they been running this way all this fiscal year? And yet no mention from the LSM, until the republicans get into office and they the press bitches about the cuts that the right wants to make......
If the Republicans aren’t willing to play hardball, I’ll probably not vote for them. I might vote for a third party and as a result, the Socialists can cause the collapse of the United States sooner rather than later.
I still can’t believe this crook and liar won re-election. WTH is wrong with Nevadans? Do they really hate the rest of us that much?
WTF is the federal government doing about those things now? Answer: nothing.
Across the board cuts to at least 2007 level or shut ‘er down. Harry’s on the run.
I think this time it will back fire big time as most Americans are far more engaged and informed and understand the MSM is just the water boy for the dem party then we were back in 1994.
I believe most Americans actually could care less if the government shuts down.
If they feel that they’ve got to avoid a shutdown, then the thing to do is tie the continuing resolution to various cuts. Give it a month. Pass another continuing resolution tied to additional cuts. In the end, they will suffer a thousand paper cuts.
Shut this damn government down and Don’t extend the Debt Ceiling. We can’t afford it.
