Here comes the goon squad!
I used to be in the Teamsters and, believe it or not, that was an official unofficial position. I know because they tried to recruit me into it (because of my intimidating size in those days).
You ask what were your official duties as a permanent Teamo goon (they had temps who would get promoted to permanent goon if they were good enough)? Well, you’d hang around headquarters all day and go out and bust heads when called upon by higher-ups to do so, which I take it was fairly often. It had its dangers, but sweet gig, huh? Pay was more than a regular driver could make and all your legal expenses would be paid if you ever faced charges for anything you did in your official capacity as a member of the goon squad. I declined the offer to join.
This group headed to Wisconsin? I guarantee you, a significant number of them, if not all of them, will be members of the goon squad.
I HAD to join the Teamsters when I worked as a vendor at Riverfront stadium. I made about $35/day selling hot dogs for an average of 3 games per week. And the dues were $50.
