The Brown Saga
The Washington Times ^ | Feb. 21, 2011 | Jennifer Harper

Posted on 02/21/2011 8:02:48 AM PST by lakeprincess

Some conservatives wonder: is Sen. Scott Brown “great,” or should the party mutter, “Great Scott“? They grumble that the Massachusetts Republican has taken on the dreaded characteristics of the RINO — Republican in name only, waggishly suggesting he’s really Mr. Scott-McCain. But let’s not go into that here.

Some also wonder why the lawmaker suddenly traded his rugged, pickup-truck-driving image for a public acknowledgment of childhood trauma and sexual abuse in a CBS “60 Minutes” appearance on Sunday, and the torrent of leaks from his new book “Against All Odds: My Life of Hardship, Fast Breaks, and Second Chances.”

It’s unfortunate and tragic what happened to him as a kid... but why go public with it now?

This is similar to the conondrum the people of Egypt were faced with.

Nobody really knew for sure what they were getting with Scott Brown but they knew damn well what they were getting with his opponent (whose name I've already forgotten).

At least in the case of Massachusetts, it was worth a risk. I don't think anybody expected Brown to be worse than whoever the RAT was that would've been elected.

But, in Egypt, there was (and still is) the chance that somebody worse than MuBarack will take over.

Again, it was one of those risk/reward situations.

This one just didn't pan out.

I think it's part of his re-election strategy and is explained nicely in this FR thread.

Like most politicians, he's cashing in while he has the chance.

O sensed he was a weak sister from Day One. Didn’t take long for O to be proven correct.

And to think that he voted FOR ending the ban on DADT.

Guess he wanted that next promotion so he betrayed the troops.

Pansy is the right word.

He must be working the sympathy angle for re-election.

Rino Brown is a foul ball. He’s playing the sympathy angle to gain favor with the Mass. libs. Hopefully the T-Party will checkmate him.

Brown is as good we will get from MA. We’re not talking a bout a blue leaning state. We are talking about a Socialist Republic. The GOP should be thankful to have him and conservatives should befriend him and work on him in any way they can to get his support for their bills.
