Yes but don’t include all professors. I think most of the arts and science types are Rats but lots of professors in the business departments and engineering are conservative-perhaps because they have worked in the private sector for part of their lives.
Most Rat professors that I know had the following career path K-12, 4 years of college, 4-6 years of graduate school, post doc fellowship or assistant professor and then promotion and tenure. Except for summer jobs, no work in the private sector (working for your professor does not count).

This is also an underlying problem with a very large percentage of public/government workers whose exposure to the private sector is minimal or non-existent. And we’re witnessing this limited perspective right now in Wisconsin as public union employees have virtually no appreciation of the concept of a limited budget.
